NW WA Meet / BS Thread

Must have been my twin. We were in Oregon (on the OBDR - that's chapter 3, coming soon ) until late Saturday afternoon when we crossed over at The Dalles and headed west.

 

Just curious, but are there regular meets for the Seattle/surrounding area?

I use to be the 'planner' for such meets for my Mazda group back in Houston. Was just wondering if y'all have something like that up here?

 

If you plan them, yes. But not many people do. Summer trips are more common though

Anybody been up towards the lake diablo area?

 

Do you know how the stt pros do in ice and snow?

 

From what I've read, the STT Pro are pretty good tires and do well enough in the snow, but they have a lot less siping than say, a Duratrac, so hard-pack/ice traction would probably be comparitively less. They're primarily designed as an MT tire rather than a winter tire.

Maybe check out some tires with the mountain/snowflake rating if you're gonna be seeing lots of snow/ice?

 

Sorry one I asked about before was the maxx. I'll keep getting in other websites or just pull the trigger on duratracs.

Recently? I was there a week ago for work. I will be there-ish next week for camping trip.

 

There's roads, it's not like I'm driving up the face of silver fir.

 

There are more roads there than I realized. I wonder how many of them are not gated. That would be a neat area to explore.

Lol damn well I had no idea. I just don't get it. I never saw any roads you could take besides Alpental road once you get off that first exit by summit west....

 

Ok. Trail that's open this weekend (little to no snow), camping (RTT) and fishing or kayaking?

No worries, man. My misunderstanding initially, with all these similarly named tires.

I'm not real familiar with Whidbey, but most of us are pretty close. Winters in the lowlands around here are sadly quite mild; ice and snow are a rare occasion until you get up in the higher elevations away from the water. Whether you go with the Maxx, Pro, Duratrac or similar tires, you're gonna be fine in all but the rarest weather occasions. As I said, the Maxx (m+s, not snowflake) has exceeded my expectations. Read some reviews, find a tire you like with a good amount of siping and you'll be good to go!

My brother's Subaru WRX need a leak in the emission system fixed (charcoal canister etc.) Anyone have a recommendation for a shop in the n. seattle - s. everett area?
