Transmission fluid check procedure

I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere. Can't find

Can someone share the automatic transmission fluid check procedure.

I've taken my truck into dealer 2 times with only 800 miles. 1st time was a Qt low. 2nd time they said fluid level was good. Shifting is is still very rough at times. Mainly when when accelerating then let off the gas when it gets to a shift point. Maybe its a computer issue?

Often times this transmission may need a 1200 mile learn\break-in before it can shift amiably for most.
There is a TSB here on TW top of forum, but it does not even call for checking ATF level as this seldom if ever alleviates the problem.
But putting on miles and not being shy with the S mode in traffic below 45mph will. ETC also gives the engine a kick in the pants at hwy speeds when passing.

But I suspect that since Toyota does not pay for sealed transmission checks as they are labor intensive time wise, a lot of dealers are just breaking a ATF bottle to replace the ounce or two spent on checking for proper flow. If its low the factory pays, so there's that.
Or the tech may not feel like waiting around for the proper temp when the flow occurs and just adds it in, problem solved!

But here is the procedure, and I don’t suggest you try that yourself as you could void that warranty if anything goes wrong, and it has even for the pros.
And If I start to worry about the transmission being low, I might as well worry about the wheel bearings, cv joints ball joints and everything else that’s sealed from the factory and let’s not forget the propeller shaft hanger bearing that can kill you if it lets go of the shaft at 70mph.

Just read some info that '16-17 and some of '18 have some issue about low level transmistion fluid. I want to check my '18 2.7 truck but I can't find the dipsstick. Can someone help me? Appreciate .

 

It’s a sealed transmission....

 

The dipstick is located right next to the axial flux coreless permanent magnet synchronous generator.

 

the AFCPMSG is an option. it is not on all trim levels.

 

ATF is fine, always has been on these trucks from the factory. Just not here on forums.Try operating the vehicle on S mode and get back with results
