I took Laila out on a run yesterday. Once we got up above the marine layer the temp went up to about 80, she was riding in the bed & got hot quick! For the couple hour drive down the hill I put her up front with me, AC on full blast for her.

Chance, the little dude I "rescued" at Harbor Freight a few weeks ago, is adjusting very well. He even helped me relocate the dog house to a shady spot in the yard.

@2BeersPlease that's a nice looking doghouse. I need to put something like that together. Looks like Lucky has all kinds of room.

Had all three of my dogs in the back for a day trip up to the Sierras last Sunday. On the highway, they were fine because there was enough air flow. But once we got on the trail, going was slow and got warm back there.

I might try doing something like this.

Interesting. I'm not convinced that would do much in the open bed of a truck. But if you try it & have good results I'm not afraid to eat crow :hungry:

Thanks. It was a fun pallet project. I tried to use traditional framing methods with 1x2s. My mistake was spacing the studs 12" apart instead of 8". Still came out ok even though it ended up being a little taller than I wanted and I jacked up cutting the opening.

Not quite done though. Have to fix the opening, screen the openings under the eaves, and install an awning over the door made from a leftover piece of the roofing. I think they might need a nice deck out front too.

It's pretty spacious, but Chance has to share it with these two:

Ahh. Yes, an open bed would be a problem. Wasn't thinking. I have a cap. Maybe adapt it to cool a kennel? Of course, the kennel would have to be suitable candidate. I have a collapsible wire crate that would only work if I covered it with a blanket.

But I think something like this would be a suitable candidate. Drape something (like dog door plastic flap) over the front and sides to contain the air a little better and push cold air in through the back. Something like that. :notsure:

Boxer has a good snout. Ours has the same. Hard to find boxers these days with a snout.
