I know where the card slot is located but how the hell did you open that little door without scratching the screen?

Press in on one edge of the door. Left I think but may be misremembering.

I don't know where folks live that are having issues with the built-in nav as I have never had a problem with mine over the last year and a half with a good amount of use. For those that think it isn't intuitive, did you spend more than 5 minutes messing with it? I was up and running in no time with it when I first bought the truck. I also understand technology since I am an engineer but my wife isn't technical savvy and she had no issues either. As far as the map updates go, do you really need to update it every year? I plan on buying the new card next year since it will have been 3 years. Roads don't magically change over a months time and new roads being built don't make enough difference to warrant a yearly update. If anything, the Entune unit has been the nicest head unit I have ever had out of all of my cars. My Challenger had a crap one, the Corvette's was nice but lacking functionality and usability, and my wife's VW while nice, could be better. The one in the Chrysler 200 I used to have was complete crap, but that is to be expected with Chrysler corp.

The only thing I dont care for is that my 2017 came with a 2015 map card. Minneapolis is growing like crazy and half the roads aren't on there.

In my experience, the factory nav on the TRD Offroad is pretty awesome. It even shows the caliche roads on the private ranch that I hunt on. Last year, we spent a week in Ouachita National Forest and it had most of the 4x4 trails on it as well, even ones that were grown over. Waze/ Google Maps do not show any of these. My only problem with it is that it is WAY too conservative with arrival times. If I want to get a real idea of how long it will take to get somewhere, I check Waze.

Got it from Amazon, no longer in stock. But you can just search for magnetic phone mount for another similar brand.
Just pick one that matches or blends to your interior or liking at a price you like. I paid less than $10 for mine, but they vary.

They mount with tape to dash and a disc goes to the back of phone, I have mine attached to the phone case inside not visible. Holds it pretty good.

I bought my truck last month and the salesman told me the map updates were done about once a year and would be done through the Toyota app on my phone to the radio, said it was free too.

That would be nice, but I'm pretty sure it's not free and it takes a whole new chip. The entune app will do free updates to the entune apps. But not the map data itself.

    This is not totally true.

If you use offline mapping software such as Osmand or Locus on your phone, you don't ever need a cell signal. All you need is a GPS signal. Maps are updated frequently and can be found for free. I use Osmand on a Kyocera phone for all my navigation when I ride my motorcycle. The phone has never been activated.

    Cheers

So if I understand correctly I cant by a sd card and go on a free sight and down load a better map for being in the back country? The one I have doesn't have complete FSR roads that are complete in any map book. Just curious if anyone has DL a map and had it work.
