I'm on the CPS list and I as well have replaced it on my own some time ago. I will certainly ask for reimbursement and I suspect they can track down the manufacture date and know if its the correct sensor. However, with all the liability at play I suspect the dealer will be required to replace whatever sensor you have with one they install. I will still attempt a refund but I think the chances are small of actually getting one.

Attempt a refund through corporate I am assuming? I was thinking the same as far as the dealer being required to replace the one on the truck with the "official fix" sensor. Which is why I am planning on putting the original sensor back on the truck and they can replace the known shitty sensor with their "new and improved" one. Btw swimmer, did you ever get the needle bearing replaced on your rig? Hope you finally got that f'n CV axle out and got it done... I know we both put a lot of blood, sweat and cuss words into that at the same time.

Mine is an 11/15 build (Baja) and wasn't in the rear diff leak recall, but I just checked and it is listed for the CPS. I've had over 33K trouble free miles, other than the trans TSB which was nice but not dramatic. Planning a road trip weekend with some "offroad lite" over the next three days. Oh well, I'm sure Toyota will cover the towing charges up some forest service roads ...

Both for mine too. No leaks on the diff, and they did the re-torque. The CPS will probably be awhile, but they shouldn't keep the truck for that one.

Toyota quality control kind of messed up on the 3rd gen Tacoma. This is my sixth Toyota, but the first I've felt nervous driving because of all the issues.

Not on the recall list, build date 02/16 Texas, 2016 TRD OR DCLB. A little surprised as I thought the early deliveries would be hit as the trucks manufactured after 4/16 were supposed to have the "upgraded with hashmark" CPS installed.

Have a "marked" spare CPS just in case.
