    Actually easier. You have to take the stock pack out and apart and reassemble with aal and reinstall on truck. Just have to remove stock and replace with aftermarket otherwise :thumbsup:

    You'll need longer ubolts though

    Not enough to have a build thread.
    and not sure about a second gen, but I needed a longer rear brake line and shocks for my omes. But youll need longer shocks for a aal anyway

    The 5100's are supposed to accommodate 1-3 inches of lift. But it's price that has me holding off for now. After all the parts it's good $500 and that's if I don't break anything during the install. Though with the recalled spring replacement done few months ago the bolts might come out easier. That would help some.

    Ya, that sounds about right. With my OMEs, new shocks, brake line, exhaust bracket, proportioning valve bracket, poly bushings, front preload spacers, shipping, etc, it was about a grand....

    you can on a 2nd gen, I ran the Icon AAL on mine with stock length shocks. also, to install the AAL i didn't even remove the pack, just jacked it up, removed ubolts, undid the retainer/shackle thingys after clamping the leaf pack together with a C-clamp and inserted AAL. pretty easy, but still think it's a waste of time. i didn't gain much and ended up changing out leaf pack anyway, as most people tend to.

    save the money and replace the whole pack

    PS: anyone want to buy a used OEM leaf pack with Icon AAL? only about 15000 miles on it

    Any one have the rear axle bearing puller special tool? Dealership wants to charge for $400+ for pressing the bearing out... Toy Connection in SJ 1-2 hours of labor ($150-180). I have access to a hydraulic press at work, but do not have the special tool. I am considering buying it...

    no sir, it needs to be pressed out and in, and the only way to press it in/out is with a special tool, or a homemade one

    My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
    Hey guys I live down in Fresno now and have a ton of metal fab tools, can do spindles, lifts, shock relocations, custom stuff bumpers sliders, cages... whatever, reasonably priced and usually a quick turnaround, did mademan925's(nick) shock setup frame box, crossmembers, and front tower gussets in a weekend. So yea hit me up

    Heavy Metal Off Road in Livermore, Tim https://heavymetaloff-road.com/ , fabricated a tool to do the job, I tested it out and it works! was able to change out the left rear bearing. Along with the tool you will still need a press or access to one, and either a cut off wheel or another tool, a bearing puller thing, which I have to complete the job of disassembly. For reassembly, you will need another tool to help press the new bearing in, and its basically the right size pipe to push against the bearing, not the bearing housing, which I have.
    I'm going to leave the bearing removal tools and the little pipe for assembly with Tim, great guy and skilled fabricator. Also, if anyone needs to do the job, I can help and guide you!bearing puller.jpg

    the bearing puller I used to remove the outer race. The heavy duty one only pulls the bearing housing, the retainer ring and the bearing. the outer race part ends up staying pressed in on the shaft, and I've seen vids of people cutting it off. This tool was perfect and removed it easily using the press to push down on the shaft.
