I need some help! I just had a 3" OME lift installed with 285s on stock wheels and the now the tires are rubbing the UCA's. Should I be running a different wheel with more backspacing or is there something else I'm missing going on?

It's mandatory to get aftermarket UCAs with a 3" lift, that will start to help. Then you need aftermarket wheels with at least 4.5" backspacing (I'm sure someone will correct me on that number if I'm off)

Any reccos for the spacers? My shop said spacers were a bit "unsafe". Is that true?

If you run em, spidertrax. But personally I advise against it.

But without UCA's your alignment numbers are gonna be off, and that factory upper balljoint will wear out prematurely due to the angle it's now sitting at.

Do it right. Wheels with at least 4" back space and UCAs designed to adjust caster for your lift.

SPC Light Racing UCAs will give you the best adjustability and most travel - and are the least expensive of the high quality options. Talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road she'll set you straight.

Light Racing UCAs are the cheapest you can get to correct your alignment.

But you might still rub on the cab mount and inner fender. You definitely opened a can of worms with your 3" lift (especially if you got 4x4) and 33" tires.

Welcome to TW. This is a topic well documented (at least about the 3 inch lift, and fitting 285's, perhaps in separate threads)

To add in on the echo chamber: aftermarket UCA's with adjustability, and aftermarket wheels with proper backspacing (or spacers, wheels are the better option)

Wheels with 4.5" back spacing or less will give you the clearance you need for the tires.
As for spacers some are safe some are unsafe. A quality set of spidertrax or bora wheels spacers are hub centric and installed correctly can be safe. Cheaper non hubcentric wheel spacers can be a problem though.

@bsimpsonTN im running the SPC (light racing) UCAs and love em. Zero issues and they allow for addition caster/camber adjustments. And they are cheaper than the unibal UCA's like total chaos/icon/camburg

@txtaco87 What size tires are you running? And if they're 285s have you had to chop the cab mount as mentioned by @MarX

I did a 3inch ome lift 887's and LR UCA's the CMC being needed varies from some to some. You may not need it. I stuck with 265's so no help there.

Caster is 3.2 and no chop needed, just removed the mud flaps and a little trim on the bottom fender and it's fine.
