Do not forget to re-spool that winch line. It is not tight!

    For real.
This is a really good idea.
    Thanks, man!
    Definitely!

I still need to decide where to locate the solenoid and then get everything wired up. Re-spooling the line is the first thing I'll do after that.

Did you source longer cables so you can relocate the solenoid where you want it?

    Negative.

I need to look into that for the dual battery setup as well.

Probably easier to buy a spool of wire and make your own then.

I have left over cable from when I relocated my battery to the bed, you can have it. It's at least I can do for your help. I'm also working tomorrow so I can bring it then and you can pick it up from me. Any auto parts store would have the connectors.
    This is what I have.

Yeah, I'm gonna have a shitload of cabling to do, and I might as well get the tools and material to do it myself. I was looking at the contractor box, and it looks pretty straightforward to run new cables into it.
That's a nice offer, Ray! How late are you working today?
I'm nervous as hell, man

    Yep.

Top of the winch plate to the bottom of the grille is only about 6". The height of the bars across the drum is about 7-1/2, IIRC. And the engagement handle sticks up further, especially when it's being moved. The entire lower painted section of the grille is gonna go bye bye, most likely.

I thought this might be an artifact of the 1" BL :bananadead:, but the bumper moved up with the body, so not likely.

Oh I don't know. It's different every day. But I don't have the wire with me. I was already at work when I checked out your build. I can bring the wire tomorrow. But I don't know when I start tomorrow until 4 pm tonight. So I don't know when I'll be here tomorrow yet. I'll text you later.

No worries, my man. I'm still looking down the barrel of plenty of other things before I get to that. But I really appreciate the gesture!

Eh, I'm not too worked up about it. The grille will still look sexy AF, and I like the fact that the winch and bumper aren't super cantilevered out on the frame horns.

    Wait, wait, wait.

The engage/disengage handle is on the motor side. You should be able to take the motor bolts loose pop the motor out slightly and rotate the handle toward you to the next bolt hole. Should set the handle at a 45° angle toward you instead of up at the top.

That might save a little grill cutting.

    Nice catch!

On the 9.5rs, the clocking increment is 90deg. I'm definitely gonna try to clock the handle forward, in which case I'll likely have to cut and grind away a bit of the face that the fairlead mounts to. The handle center is also forward of the grille when it's clocked vertical, but not quite enough to miss it when disengaged.
    YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

    :D

But seriously, winch > grille. And I'm delusional enough to think I can make it look pretty decent.

Absolutely. Winch has saved my ass twice now. First one was in 2 foot of snow and the second just on Monday in 2 foot of mud...part0.jpg

Ok Jason I have a pos and neg wire. Both 9'8" hopefully those are long enough. I start at 5am and should be there most of the day. Just shot me a text if you head over.
