Ah, it looked like a dent to me.

That blemish that is 1/4 the size of your fingernail will come right out after a nice wash clay and wax.

Unless you see the truck in person, i highly doubt you can comment on a solution to his problem by just using a "clay bar and wax" Give it a rest

    My opinion.

If I brought my Tacoma into a dealership. The tech guy damaged it. They did a piss poor job of fixing it. Then forced me to take my truck back, I WOULD BE PISSED just like the op. Why?

My truck was in perfect condition before it came into the dealership and it should leave the dealership the same way it came in. End of story. TOD failed to provide that kind of service and that's why the op has a problem now.

I used to work in a body shop in HS. You'd be amazed by how a little bit of elbow grease will make something look.

Fair enough, but the point is, the damage is still their when it wasn't on the truck to begin with. This is the issue at hand, why should the op have to go through all this headache and hassle when all he did was drop his truck off to TOD to get servicing done? I'm not bashing you, I'm just saying it sucks to be put into a situation where both parties are now stuck. TOD has a horrible BBB rating and is getting bashed to no ends on TW. The op has a truck that's not in original condition and now has to get it fixed via another body shop, involving his insurance company now. This should of all been taken care of by TOD if they had ANY customer service skills at all regardless of what name calling was said. Business is business. It is the right of the customer to be satisfied.

    Good luck to you RC51

My opinion wouldn't be too productive here, but I'm glad others don't feel the same cause this has become pretty entertaining...

2003RC i fully agree with your side. honestly i thought you kept your cool more than i would. i would have had some choice words with the owners and managers and probably wouldnt have handled the situation as calmly as you did. i think you have every right to get your truck back in the same condition if not better then when you dropped it off. i hope you take every action possible to make this crap dealer lose as much business as possible. good luck with everything and i hope it all works out for you.

It's pretty simple, you take your vehicle in for service, you should get it back the EXACT same that you left it in. NO questions.

Ok, I finally read all the way through this thread...

Though I do disagree with how you handled the situation at first (you were way too nice) I do think you are now headed in the right direction.

I am licensed to sell insurance in Texas, though I've never been an insurance agent I do have a fairly good grasp on how the system works.

Your insurance premiums are part of a payment for protection against idiots like the management of this dealership. Yes, if you get in a wreck, the insurance company will have your car fixed, but they also have a team of lawyers that will represent you if someone else damages your property. They WILL get their money back.

In this case you are very unlikely to be dropped by your insurance provider because you are in no way to blame for this incident. As long as your premiums are paid on time and you are not a horrible driver you're fine.

Just my opinion, but I would most defiantly take this to WFAA or another local news station and let them know what is going on. Toyota screw ups are a huge news story right now and the fact that this dealer has such a horrible BBB rating will help your case quite a bit. Show them all the attention this is getting and it may pique their interest.

I personally have canceled my plans to spend about $900 at TRDParts4U, I will absolutely find what I need elsewhere. Giving them less business might actually help these guys that are so good to work with by getting their buffoon of a boss fired.

So how much was the quote for the repairs at the reputable body shop to fix TOD's screw up?

You're right, he shouldn't HAVE to do anything. Sometimes you have to suck up your pride, even though you are right and they are wrong, and get it done on your own terms and say fuck them and never give them business ever again.

Really an unfortunate situation 2003RC51. I am sorry you are having to deal with this. Not that it would prevent me from having my truck fixed correctly by a qualified third party, but I suspect your vehicle gets tagged as having been in a accident because of the insurance claim (assuming you indeed go that route). That hurts resale value. Another way TOD has f'd you over. Again, not sufficient reason to not get her fixed, but more crap to piss you off. Your anger and frustration is totally justified. I will not be doing business with them in the future. Best of luck.
