It probably was. In the picture, I have the trailer jacked up for a better ramp angle.

I'd agree that it is likely a weight distribution issue, I have hauled 1.5 yards of semi wet dirt in a trailer behind my truck before. I figure that weighed at least 3,000 pounds plus the weight of the trailer and while I could definitely notice it back there (especially since the trailer was more than maxed and and damn near rubbing the tires on the fender), I didn't have any issues that you described. I would say these trucks should be good up to about 5,000 pounds but will definitely struggle up hills and I would think twice before trying to pull a load like that over the mountains.

Ahh, I gotchya. Well that could have very well been the case; having little or no up-travel would have made for an exciting ride.

Not sure how soft the factory springs are, or perhaps they're a bit worn-in, but that doesn't seem like much weight to bring ya down to the bump stops. Isn't 2nd gen payload cap somewhere around 1500 pounds? Obviously tongue weight is less, but still... part of that 800 lbs was sitting on the trailer axle.

Maybe someone else can chime in on the specs for the 4cyl pay load.

According to the manual, the '15 2.7 PR is rated for 1,300 lbs payload (incl. occupants).

    Shit on a black truck.
I used Carstar in Bellevue. Uses all OEM parts for the front end replacement when someone backed into me.

Correct, sir! You asked what the payload was, given the spring/bump stop problem. That comes from the weight pushing down on your truck, not weight being pulled behind it.

Given the 1300 lb rating, I'm still surprised it sagged to the bumps with just a few hundred lbs off the back.

How many miles on your rig? You tow or load up the bed with weight very often?

Thanks, I will keep them for a back up if I need. I turned in my claim with the city yesterday. Got 2 estimates around $5k plus a quote of $600 bucks for car rental. It supposedly will take 6 weeks to process my claim. Puts a serious damper on my trip next week.

Oh I don't know. I just thought it might be him based off his avatar pic, but if that truck no longer exists then I guess it is someone else.
