2012 Tacoma shell fit 2017 Tacoma?

is there any kit or any way I can get my 2012 ARE Tacoma shell to fit my 2017 Tacoma? They are both long bed versions.

 

I have the same question, except I have a Snugtop Super Sport

 

Toyota raised the sides of the bed by 1 inch on the 3rd gen and the Tailgate is different. You might be better off selling yours and buying a new one.

 

I am not sure about box dimensions, but the tailgate is not straight across the top on my 16, my cap back window has molding to cover tailgate the is arched to match match the top of the tailgate.

 

I'll also add, whether this is super helpful or not, the bed rails on the 3rd gen seem to taper in towards the tailgate.

I tried to snag a cheap bed rack off CL, but it didn't fit well because of the taper (and as mentioned above the rails are higher so the bolt holes didn't line up). I imagine that would screw with the topper fitment.

 

Yeah thanks for the input, first thing I noticed is the curvature of the tail and thick rails on the bed...

 

I live on Maui, so a new Snugtop Super Sport ($3200) has to be ordered from a Shop in Honolulu, in advance ... They wait until they have a full container of orders, are shipped by boat.. Then after it arrives in Honolulu, it has to ship to maui ($300)

So that means 4-7 weeks to get my shell...

 

You'll have to wait then, the 2nd gen one will mount up, but it won't fit right.

It will stick up higher than the cab, the lines won't match up with the cab up front, and the hatch won't close right or seal.

 

Other than that, it's a prefect fit.

Sold my truck shell and all 24k, picking up a 2017 Access Cab V6 4x4 deciding between Magnetic Gray or White, git a killer deal less than 32k plus TTT
Will post build out as it goes... 3" 285/70/17 Bilsteins etc etc
