Today was a rifle match we run, two classes DMR and Recce. We're running a series that happens at two ranges, four qualifiers then we'll take the top 20 shooters for the final.

Me too! Just finished dinner, it is time.

Safe though, not the security cabinet. Cyber is correct there are several different lines and grades. However... If it is Cali approved that says something. Personally I like the fire rating and heavy bolt to the floor safes. Hate like hell moving it once it is it staying there but owning my own home don't expect to have to move it but one more time. I think Needs Analysis for where you live and anticipated threats to your guns also play a part so it is a balancing act. And then there is the bank savings account to consider too.

Had my last birthday supper tonight. Well last one in the 50's anyhow. Tomorrow is steak so going to continue Rosseanne Bar aint sung yet.

First you partially grill some bacon. Because well there is a common theme with me. It is bacon.

    first cook bacon.jpg

Wrap it around wild sea scallops. King Hawaiian original bbq sauce for the shrimp. And a few with just butter.

    kettleCook.jpg

Done don't want to over cook or under cook and it turned out perfect.

    BirthdayDone.jpg

Corn was a bit young and not up to speed. But after this weekend will not be eating carbs for awhile. Hawaiian pink salt on the corn to go with the theme. Lots of left overs LOL tomorrow will be surf and turf.

    BDmeal.jpg

Now for that drink and cigar.

Mike, you may want to buy a whole or 1/2 a pig. I did this year and had it all butchered "fresh"(no additives what-so-ever). You'll soon realize that store bought bacon is garbage and not worth the plastic it comes in. I didn't even have them slice the bacon so I could have more options cooking/smoking/cuts and not be restricted by conventional thought. Next year I'll do it a little different, but that stuff everyone thinks is bacon will have a hard time coming into my house again. And the rest of the pig is awesome too. The chops are awesome, not pumped full of water and preservatives. It'll really change your thinking.

We shoot out to 700 mostly steel, some paper, a crapton of movers.

DMR = designated marksman rifle, semi-auto platform, magnification what ever you feel is prudent (I run a 4-16 Vortex), allowed a bipod

Recce = accurized patrol rifle, semi-auto as well, magnification up to 6x (a number of guys run ACOGs) no bipod

DMR shooters have to engage reduced IDPA silhouettes typically 1/3 -1/2

Recce shooters are engaging full sized 31x18 IDPA silhouettes

You're shooting from all kinds of positions, 20ft tower, a suspended platform that's swinging side to side, makeshift hide with a bunch stuff to build a position, 8ft tall A frame rafter like apparatus and who knows could be a serious "what the front yard" here's your target assignment figured it out.

I would have to agree the real stuff is better they raise a lot of pork here and have had fresh off the farm bacon and home smoked hams can't touch store bought. Course I have no idea how to cure it and smoke it so I am stuck with store bought or I go out to the Amish side of the side and get some real stuff.

I did for the first few years using bug sprayer for bleach solution and then washing down. The sprayer was trashed at the end of the summer as I used it for dog kennel to and bleach eats them. I did try to find one rated for bleach but they are pricey and still not good for more then a year or so unless you really clean the hell out of them. The guys around here do the whole thing house , garages etc and then put wax like coating on that lasts a good while . For 200 bucks and I do not have to climb up and down ladders yeah I gave up and just pay it .
