    ECT is wanna be Trophy truck mode and the other is self destruct. OR tire pressure set button, one of the two. Can't recall 100%.

    It's funny how Toyota is, they could have easily integrated the TPMS reset into the MFD system but elected to make it a physical button

    I'm curious... Am I the only one that wishes Toyota put the ECT button on the steering wheel? wouldn't that be a better spot for it?

    I can see that being useful for the automatic people. While we're there, put a high beam trigger there.

    Look just below the steering wheel, it's the reset button for the tire monitors.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I still can't believe the dealer explained it like that too you.

    Really all it is, is what it stands for basically. Electronic Control Transmission.
    All its doing is letting you hold a gear a bit longer so you get into a higher RPM so you can actually hit the power band on this engine. Heard somewhere on here that it also cancels the atkinson cycle simulation part, and just runs as a basic otto cycle.

    I can just see your dealer guy pressing it and becoming Clarkson

    For OP
    First one is just your TPMS reset button. After rotating tires, you hold it till the light blinks 3 times on the dash while stopped. Then it should reset.
    This is not to be mistaken with reprogramming sensors. If you get new wheels with different sensors you will require a TPMS tool, or Techstream to reprogram the new IDs into the computer.

    would rather it be like a knob type thing. Something you can leave in position. Like the 4wd knob. either turned to off or ect pwr. So that way you can start it and just have it automatically go to ECT. Instead of needing to do some sort of mod like posted on here that is risky as fuck given it caused a lot of CEL and other shit on guys trucks.

    i have chimed in on a few threads with the same question. would like to have it where that 'back button' is on the steering wheel. if i knew how to identify the wires from the back button i would mod it as i stated.

    i think it does, i did a test driving at 45MPH at 2K RPM in S4 with ECT on, holding steady turned off ECT and truck slowed down about 3 MPH and RPM dropped a bit. with the ECT off i got the truck back up to 45MPH at 2K RPM still in S4 and pushed the ECT button, truck increased speed and RPM. i then shifted to S3 to make sure the ECT did not down shift and was still in 4th ECT was not controlling any shifts while i did this was in S4 the entire time. Atkinson cycle sucks, who in their right mind would want the engine to hold the intake valve open during the binging of the compression stroke. someone here posted a video of how the Atkinson cycle works, eye opener, if i had seen that video playing in a dealer showroom before i bought my truck i would have never bought it.
