Best way to remove gas cap cover??

I'm getting a custom shell done by Tradesman Truck Tops and need a part to color match for the paint. They have the quicksand code but said if I could send them the gas cap cover they could more accurately color match it. What's the best way to remove it?

 

Isn't it riveted in place. If so then use a die grinder or a Dremel with a same type of grinder to take the head do the rivet off.
Edit. Yup. Grind off those 2 heads and should pop off.

 

Go with the code. Your '16 hasn't faded yet. Why mess up your truck?

don't grind, Drill. Those look to be big ass rivets.

 

Yeah go ahead and grind and make sparks right next to your gas cap, what could go wrong?

The code isn't accurate enough?

Are they local or is the finished product being shipped to you? If local bring them the whole truck. I would be afraid that after reinstalling the door never sits quite right after. The tiniest of misalignment and the tight lines between the door and the pocket will always look off.

If it is being shipped is there a local body shop that uses the same scanning system to scan the paint for them?

I would be worried that they can't match the colour of the Truck without the paint code.

 

What about the plastic on the back of the side mirrors, i beleive it just pops off @mesojdm.

Good idea. Or maybe a rear bumper cap. I wouldn't want to drill out rivets if I didn't have to.
