Ontario BS Thread

We're planning to head up on the Friday after lunch and leave sometime on Sunday. It's gonna be a short trip but it'll be nice to just get out.

 

I'm trying to figure out my work schedule for the summer, hopefully have some weekends off. Can't wait to see some new rigs ands mods.. Peter that dual battery set up looks insane!

 

Where are you guys coming from? I'm out in Petawawa.

I might join you in June, depending on the work. And 100% I am going in July! My RTT and all gear is ready and trucks belly is covered with skid plates.

Did you guys paint your own skids or get the powder coat?

 

I got my skids in the winter so I had them painted...plus I didn't no better. I have since rattle canned them many times. Don't waste money on a paint job that your going to scrape off in the long runs.

 

Thats what I figured. I ordered them bare steel, just wanted some feedback. I'm planning on self etching primer and bedliner. Should I do actual paint? Like a satin or flat lacquer?

 

Doesn't matter really. I have found that Berliner is rubberish so when touching up, rust may get under it (had that experience with line x). Could have been me though since they do sell rocker guard that's very similar.

I use flat black tremclad spray paint. Can't get it on sale at Walmart for cheap. I usually paint my skids when I have to change the diff fluid since they will be off then. Other than that I don't touch them up. To much of a pain.

Degrease and paint is all I do. After arbdeg you'll thank me lol

 

Went with the powder coat, I am not planning to do rock climbing much, but rather have a piece of mind that my trucks belly is protected if I muck it up somewhere.

 

Really all depends how you want to use them @Thyces.

Hwy 124 north off of the 400 north. Lorimer lake Rd north till you hit bunny trail. Bunny trail north. Ask someone with mud tires around there if you get lost.

 

Did Cabot Head Road this weekend (next to Tobermory), nice little trail for a day trip. I suggest you all to check it out some day. Oh, and the water is great for swimming!
