I have the all-pro flip with Wheelers Super bumps. Do i like it...yes. Is it totally worth it over the OEM bumps....depends. If you are mostly a forest service type off-roader then probably not since you wont be on the bumps often anyways. If you are towing, have lots of weight, or are flexing lots then yes its worth it as the timbren/superbumps/air bumps are going to be smoother. Then again the timbren/superbumps are relatively cheap (compared to other mods) so might as well do it, measure out proper bump stop, and be done with it

FYI Wheelers Off-road offers a Timbren kit and a superbump kit with the bumps and flip plates for decent prices....more so on the timbren IMO.

Had a decent time in the Blues. Up off Patrick grade road and several forest roads. Took off on one that actually showed up on the GPS (unnamed road). About a mile in I decided that it was too late in the day, I was going solo, and it looked to get pretty sketchy with a lot of off loose camber and steeps. Upon further investigation....not sure if it was open for travel. I will look into this. If it is, it may make for a great drive.

From my understanding of that area it's mainly for ATVs they have track width requirements for most of the trails. Trucks have to be street legal and stick to FS roads. Let me know if you find something differently

Apparently there is a list or map at the ranger station that shows what is open for street legal. I'm going to see if I can track one down. Website is currently down.

Mostly bombing down desert roads and occasionally taking big hits from washes and ditch drains. Occasional light crawling and exploring. I think I will just bite the bullet once and go with the air bumps.

Dont drop the superbumps/timbrens just cause "go fast desert". Lots of the SoCal desert guys were running them last time i was there. Least the ones who only had "basic" mid travel/long travel type setups. They worked just fine for them. Nothing wrong with air bumps though!

Yeah and I dont even go that "fast" anyways haha. Will be moving back to Utah and was thinking longevity wise the Timbrens wouldn't do well in the salt but it would eat up seals and surface rust so probably no difference either way.

The REI store in Seattle has a "ranger station" that's manned during "business hours" (not all the time the store is open). I've gotten the map of open roads for Mt. Baker-Snoqualamie and Wenatchee NFs there.

Trucks may drive on trails if they fit and aren't prohibited. The trails I've seen have a jeep icon it they're ok or a jeep icon with a line through it if closed (usually because they won't fit).

The other option is to look up the MVUM (motor vehicle use map) for the NF district that you're interested in. They should all be downloadable at this point. I haven't looked at one in a while, but I remember when they first came out that they were very lacking in details that made it difficult to orient oneself and nearly impossible to use on the trail. I wound up spending an evening with a highlighter, MVUM and gazetteer. Pretty sure I got most of them for the areas that I frequent, but I'll do the same if I go someplace new.

Thank you! I found that earlier today. Unfortunately its broken down in quadrants. But that would be better for printing.

Need a new battery for the Taco. 1st Gen, V-6. No winch, but I do have three two-way radios (Ham, CB, GMRS) so would like something that can support that. Might consider an alternator upgrade, but I'd need help on that one. For now, any recommendations on a good battery? Been running a red-top Optima spiralcell which has served me well for many years, but wondering if there is anything better out there. Thx!

I don't have any input to share except for this deal a member was offering in Oregon. If you can find a TW express member to bring it up during their travels, it my be worth a look. I *think* it is still going.

Not sure if you want to pay this much but Northstar batteries are incredible, but you pay for it.

They plated the outsides where the shock hoops/supports are but not the underside. Honestly surprised they didn't..

I'm running dual Odyssey batteries. So far, no complaints at all (about one year to date).
