Driving along about 55mph past the entrance to my local dumps and heard a really loud pop. Got home and found this little bastard in my tire. I can not figure out how the hell this thing stood up and went in head first ("That's what she said"). I was planning on running these tires for another couple of months, now I'm going to be running them for another couple of months...with a plug. I'll keep it on the rear just in case it blows I'll still have some steering and brakes.

hit it just right/wrong however you look at it. Weirdest one I had was the tube inside a flip/zippo lighter got stuck in my tire and of course let out air like a nail.

Probably a nice lighter until you went and ran it over. lol

I had to "rescue" my wife a couple of months ago. Pulled a key out of her tire.

Hopefully they will patch that. I had a screw in a similar location and they wouldn't.

No shop around here will patch or plug a tire. I put a plug in it, it doesn't leak. It'll be ok for a couple of months, they're almost worn out anyway.

shops won't put a patch-plug on a tire with a puncture on the shoulder...so good thing you're fixing it yourself

Same thing happened to my new firestones about 5 months after I bought the truck last year, I plugged it and it has been fine. I have rotated the tires twice already and have 15k on the tires, so about 5k when it happened. Almost in the same place to.

OEM on the '16 TRD OR, Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. IDK the load rating, I'll have to look at the sidewall. I don't think the tires are the issue here, I blame the laws of physics and that 4 inch spike.

Lost a tire recently myself. There was apparently the tiniest of punctures embedded in the smallest gap between treads closest to the sidewall which became unrepeatable. tires only had 2800 miles on them. Tire shop couldn't even extract it to tell me what punctured it because it was so hard to get to. Bought a new tire and purchased a warranty for all 4 since they were still pretty new I was able to.

There is a perfectly good reason why they won't.

I had a piece of metal in my tire, similar spot. When they took the tire off to remove it, a huge bubble formed. Not a good idea to drive on that tire....
