Y'all would go into shock if you would have been around back when I first got started 4-wheelin'. We would LITERALLY go 5 or 6 days/nights a week. There were a number of good trails within an hour or so of home. Instead of cruising the town square like most of the hippies our age, we would head for the woods and party all night on the trails. My first Jeep had about as many OFF road miles as it did ON road. Gas was $.65 a gallon, beer was $2 a six, and :rasta: was everywhere. A brand new Jeep Renegade CJ5 was under $7K. Good times.

    I wasn't married then so I had 40K in 1975 dollars.

    Not so much now.

So, Haspin is one of those places where, unfortunately you benefit from strength in numbers.

If you're just one or 3 trucks out there, wheeling how you like, you will probably get offended by the larger groups wheeling differently than you. However, if a group of us showed up with 5-10 tacomas or more, then we'd be just fine. Also, we wouldn't have to worry about the parking lot, or what goes on when we sleep because there are (1) plenty of camping spots offsite, and (2) the possibility of staying at my place.

The Devil's Backbone. This hill typically kills 1 or 2 people a year. (Full Disclosure....)
It is a bit more of the "Wild West" mentality....but you also have to consider, most of the people there go there EVERY.SINGLE.WEEKEND. Its like a second home to them.

It is 100% feasible to go there and not get hurt, maimed, injured or killed. Is there drinking? Yes. However, there is heavy drinking at a lot of OR parks....and don't come at me with the whole "regulation" bit, people have been smuggling in booze to places that don't allow it for decades.

The newest 4Runner is the only newest body style Toyota truck/SUV that is actually appealing to me.

It's the lane changing shit, or the automatic parking nonsense. If you cant drive, dont drive.

Ah! Now I see what you were getting at!

I too, don't like that. usually end up turning the AC off when I smoke and roll the windows down. Then I'll kick it on to push out any residual stink before I roll the windows up.
Truck still smells though. Thanks Polly! :annoyed: filthy whore dog
