Hey everyone, plan on heading up to Alabama Hills next week to break in the new RTT and wanted to know from folks who have been there for suggestion on maybe shaded campsites? I know it's all rocks so I wanted to know if anyone knew of a spot that has some shield from the sun. Thanks!

Yeah not much in ways to get out of the sun there. Lots of sweet rock formations though. Check out Line Pine Campground. It's just up Whitney Portal Rd. It will get you up out of the hot valley some and there's some campsites with trees.

Nice, thanks! I was also looking at some Sun Shelters too for Alabama Hills if there wasn't any sun shades. Thanks

I agree, I would hate to wake up while on an adventure and find that a group like mine had set up camp close to me.
Of course someone would have to drive through 12 miles of sand and rocks and drop offs to get to our camp. After a couple days at the organized park campgrounds filled with generator running RV's and tv-radio-whinning kids...we decided that for our future trips we would head to the backcountry to camp. The music toys came about as a tribute to a lifelong desert loving guitar playing friend who had passed away a few years ago. We purposely go to remote locations just to avoid intruding on those that don't want to see or hear our desertfest. Death Valley is plenty large enough to allow folks to enjoy themselves without neighbors if they so wish.
