One of the reasons I still come to TW is knowledge, of which there's some good in this thread. I had no idea about the 60* vs. 90*. I will add my opinion; I had an '86 Camaro with the 2.8v6. It was a paltry 135hp. but had a beautiful throaty sound. My Tacoma's 3.4 v6 sounds wimpy in comparison, but yet is larger and has about 60 more hp. 60* vs. 90* I guess! If I were the OP I would want to leave some sort of muffler in there, not only to control noise (trust that you'd grow so tired of it quickly), but also, if you open up the exhaust flow too much, I feel you'll lose a significant amount of lower-end power. You may gain a little more at high RPM but you spend very little time at high RPM. I could be wrong as maybe losing the muffler might not be that big of a loss of back-pressure, I am not sure. The cats are still in there.

Yes it is. The firing pulses in a 90' V6 will almost always yield a pretty decent throaty sound with a free flowing exhaust....though some exhaust tuning may be necessary to achieve the best sound.

Of course that 3.8 SC was also cammed out the ass....exaggerating the exhaust pulses even more.

Here's another mean sounding 90' V6. What make this so impressive is that it's turbo charged. Turbos tend to chew up the exhaust note. Not so much in this application

think about it this way. cutting off a muffler and driving around is like driving around blaring 2 air horns the entire time you're driving.

im pretty sure there is a law preventing you from removing a muffler from an on highway vehicle. and if there isn't a law yet, there will be very soon once you do what you want to do.

Guessing you're around high school age OP? Have your fun and chop them off, it won't sound better unless you're one of those people who equates loud noises to "sounding better."

Is that why the boxer engines sounds so good for a 4 banger? Just simply the angle?

They're horizontally opposed engines, yes that's why they sound so different.

My uncle has a boxer Briggs in his old Lowes mower and it sounds like a mini Subi lol

OP....if you want "louder" but not utterly annoying.....cut off the muffler and throw on a cheap glass-pac in it's place. Sound can be subjective, so I can't say whether it will sound good. But it will be louder for sure

Full exhaust or just a muffler? How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

I bought the muffler for 80, and the piping for 32, I'm going to just make a custom one
