    Hey Lloyd, check this list out:

    Local Weld Supply House:

    .035" Hobart, Esab or Lincoln Flux Core Welding Wire

    Plenty of extra .035" wire tips (you're going to destroy a lot while learning)

    Good pair of welding gloves. I use these and love them:

    I get about a year out of them wearing them 5 days a week for 8 hours a day.

    Sleeves

    Harbor Freight:

    Wire Cutters
    Right Angle Magnet
    Wire Brushes
    Auto-darkening Helmet (I used one for a year before upgrading. There is nothing wrong with them. I still have it as a back up)

    Lowes:
    Acetone (Keep closed and far from work area)
    Fire Extinguisher!

    Don't buy wire from Harbor Freight, it's terrible. You don't need an apron.

    When welding with Flux Core, clean steel is happy steel. So wipe really well with acetone prior to welding. Also, try to do Bevel or V Groove welds whenever possible to have strongest welds possible. Once you lay a bead, go over it with a wire brush.

    PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

    Practice on thin metal, if you can weld thin metal well then you'll be a great welder. Anyone can weld heavy shit, talent is welding thin stuff.
