outside of amperage / power draw - I base it on distance, corners/bends, and how exposed is it going to be, I agree, too thin a gauge and you risk breaks.

I know this is a long shot, but is anyone running 285/70r17 and looking to downsize to save MPGs? Trying to ditch these 265/70r17 ATs and would love to trade tires with someone.

Don't be so quick to rule this out. We all just want you to buy a Tacoma or its predecessor so we don't have to send the mods goon squad out to remove you from the forum. I could weld you some car seat mounts in the bed. They would be rear facing, too.
