I had a somewhat similar ordeal before where my drivers fenderwell was crunched in likely like yours might be. Very likely insurance will take care of this and not total your taco as it doesn't look too bad except for cosmetics. The fact that the front headlight seems to not have shifted much seems that it held out pretty well. Im only guessing though based off not seeing whats underneath the fender.

There is a artery in your neck surrounded by tiny bones. Any damage in that area can cause you to have a blood clot that can go to your brain and cause a stroke! Not trying to scare you but you need to get it check out by a doctor.

Did you have a seat belt on? I was wondering if you could hit the roof with it on. You may still have pain in your arm with damaged neck vertebrae that does not show up for years. Good call on going to the ER.

i'm only 5'11 but with the way i sit and my work boots on, i sit up pretty high up. i was definitely wearing my seatbelt.

i honestly can't believe the airbag didn't deploy, but it might have saved my life in not doing so bc i otherwise would have struck that light pole if it had deployed(i wouldn't have been able to see and steer away from it).

Edit: I am not an attorney...

Even if it was your fault, YOUR insurance could/would take care of medical bills up to whatever threshold you have if you've got full coverage. You pay for it every month, so you might as well use it- especially if the other driver was un-insured or under-insured. Also, medical coverage in an accident is separate from property damage.

If you're not at fault- which is what it sound like- their insurance will cover everything- and you can even potentially re-coup your deductible and everything you went in for and got treatment for- it might take an attorney to do it though.

I just went through all of this when my wife and I were rear-ended by a drunk driver at a stoplight. She hit us going about 35 and didn't even touch the brakes. I was in physical therapy for 4 months, 3 times a week. Make sure you get everything taken care of.

Obviously the front suspension/wheel got tweaked due to the impact.
Make sure the front wheel alignment gets checked out 100% OK before you sign off after the repair. I had a similar damage on my other car and the alignment shop could not bring back to within spec saying that control arm attachment to the frame got bent too much.
Good luck to your health and the repair!

Be sure and check carfax. If it shows up in a couple of weeks, be sure and ask for several thousand in Diminished Value. Separate claim from the wreck and medical.

That is a nice break. I'm not sure if the other driver made contact or not, but in my experience if you swerve to avoid someone from hitting you and get into an accident it is your fault.

My 06 got whacked a LOT harder then that about a year ago by an errant tire and wheel on the Interstate at about 60, , and it was fixed and not totaled. Basically EVERYTHING in the left front suspension is now new, as well as the bumper, fender, radiator support, and a bunch more. And, my airbag DID go off!
P.S. Glad you made the right decision and went to the E.R. for a full check-out. NEVER mess around with potential head injuries...
