Ok i remember them stating something about either the cartels or a similar force being south towards the border so im assuming the ranch would be north from where the military compound was located.

 

I will miss Travis, he was in beast mode down in the pit. I do appreciate the fact that they are willing to kill off main characters.

Wow, that was quite the premiere! I did not expect to see Travis killed off at all, that was such a surprise. I guess he has a starring role in the Avatar movies, but I actually didn't even know that until I read the THR review of the FTWD premiere. These two episodes were about as good as it gets from both WD shows. There was a real terror being transmitted when watching, it felt like an old school horror flick at times. The scenes were all shot and done really well. From the walkers in the wall taking out douchebag #2, to the bird's eye view over the helicopter with the walkers converging, there were really great visual moments presented. The first episode did not slow down at all from the finale last season. It was almost nonstop from start to finish, and then episode two picks right back up and first scenes we get is the heli under fire and Travis going down. Completely unexpected! The Clark family has just been gutted, what a way to start off the season.

I also enjoyed the update with Strand. I'm glad he survived his stab wound and managed to make it out of the hotel pretty much unscathed. It was smart of him to search the room for things once the lady who stabbed him made amends and killed herself. With that, he was able to get some apocalyptic currency with jewelry, and keys to a nice Jag. I can't wait to see where these plots go next!

 

I actually like that she's alone now, and that she's thinking of the survival of her family at all costs. She already has her mind made up to take over the ranch if necessary.

 

I thought the keys were the gift from Sue Ellen Mischke (The jumper)? Also I should rephrase that I don't like the actor who plays Madison. The character is good but I'm not on board with the actor. I think she's terrible, and ugly, and annoying. That's just me though.

I've been thinking about this since Sunday and while I appreciate that the show is willing to do totally unexpected things , I feel kinda ripped off by how Travis got killed and I think that actor got kinda ripped off too

I mean being a main character from the beginning of the show and then pow , anonymous bullet , you're dead , kinda lame

 

Reading the article from The Hollywood Reporter, we will know during the course of the season who the shooter was/is. So it's not exactly a quick write off type of ending for Travis. His death is supposed to have impact on the Clark family going forward. And as noted, Cliff Curtis has Avatar to work on and his story arc according to the writers, has run it's course.

 

I'm bummer about his death too. However, briefly before he falls from the helicopter, I thought he pulled back his shirt near his waist and it looked like he was bitten. I thought maybe he was bitten in the pit. I need to go back and see if I can find it.

What makes you think he's dead? Last I saw of him he was alive, did I miss something? Travis may have taken a bullet that entered his abdomen and exited his jugular, then hurled himself out of a helicopter at 1,000 feet, but until we see his corpse or the reanimated Travis anything is possible. His fall may have been broken by a cactus patch which released healing agents into his wounds. Would not surprise me if he walked into camp in the next episode, or perhaps he takes a wrong turn and ends up in Georgia just in time to rescue Jim and untie he from that tree. Possible Travis/Jim spin off series?
