I bought the twin arb compressor through a group buy and just got around to install it. I have a problem with it not turning on with the switch. I installed everything as per the wiring diagram minus lockers. So solenoid connectors 1 & 2 and switch 1 & 2 connectors were left unplugged. Flip the switch and nothing happens. Switch lights up with the dash illumination as its supposed to. I noticed the quick connect (2) from the compressor side has 3 wires and the harness only 2, when i bridge the purple/red wire on the compressor side, the compressor turns on. Anybody ran into this before? Do I have something plugged in the wrong way? Connector in question is labeled 2 on the wiring diagram

Are you using the switch harness that came with it? That harness changes the purple to red and you have to tie the switch into the proper sources for the switch to work just tie the other switch wires up under the dash till you need them. Mine did the same thing until I put the two wires labeled ignition and dash illumination into the proper sources. I used fuses in the fuse panel under the dash. Hope I helped and didn't confuse you more.

Yes, I am using the arb switch and harness that came with it. I did plug in all the wire ends into the switch as per instructions. I will double check the switch. I figure even if I bypass the switch by bridging the purple and black wire at the compressor it should turn on, but only turns on when i bridge purple/red (at the compressor).

double check your red/yellow and blue/white diode wires. make sure you are using a proper source for those. I didn't care if my switch lighted up and tried to bypass it and it would not turn on. I had to make sure I used the correct fuse source to tap both wires in before my switch would turn on my compressor. hope you get it figured out.

Double checked, my switch does light up when the vehicle lights are turned on. I tapped in behind my aftermarket headunit. I think the problem is on the compressor side no so much the switch.

I believe the pressure switches are builted in to the compressor, shouldnt need to mess with them.

Found the problem, you were on the right track. One of my quickconnects wasnt making contact. The tab was broken, swapped it out and its working now. Appreaciate the help and I do feel like a fool.

OK. Can someone please confirm something for me about the ARB Twin compressor.

Simply hooking up the red wires to the battery, and the black wires to ground won't make the compressor turn on, correct? I still need to connect the switch using the other wiring harness, right. BTW, I do not have the manifold and this is not for running lockers.

    Thanks.

You are correct, I believe you need to tap in at least the ignition wire (red/yel) behind the switch. The blue is just for illumination of the switch.

    Thought so.

By ignition wire I assume that means a wire that is only hot when the ignition is on, correct? If so, what is a handy wire under the hood I can tap into?

Yes sir, ignition or accessory wire should only get power when the key is turned to acc. You can tap to always on if you want to use the compressor without tuening the vehicle's key. I tapped in to a wire behind the headunit. I located my switch under the AC controls. Im sure you can find a ignition wire inside the fuse box or use an add a fuse.

Can anyone explain to me why it would be a bad idea to plastidip the majority of all connections and components after an initial leak test? I plan on mounting my tank under the truck and while I'm coating the tank I was going to hit all the connections up to the compressor at the same time. I've found this method works great with electrical connections as well that may be exposed to the elements.

It can be done, you need a 35a or higher relay. You can use a relay in your Bussmann if it's rated at 35a like the ones I build. IDK what you mean about a relay for the switch..?
