I was trying to take off work early and enjoy the nice temps. and sunny day, but this is what happened...

I was driving home, minding my own business, when this box truck passed me and CRACK - he hit a limb and it fell on my hood as we passed each other.

$1351.00 for a new hood. I couldn't identify the truck, so I'm stuck with the cost. I've got a $500.00 deductible, so that will teach me not to take off early.

The truck was driving the opposite direction past me, so I wasn't really looking at it to identify it or get the license plate. It was past me before I realized what happened.

Also, it scared the crap out of me, so I pulled over immediately to see what it did. At the time, I thought it just hit my windshield, but it hit the hood first and bounced up. The truck was long gone.

I went to the police, but they said the town was not liable - it was considered an act of god or no fault.

    It certainly ruined my day.

man alive, glag your OK. It would of scared the *#@* out of me also. Act of God, I don't buy that, now maybe if you were driving on the salt flats, well then maybe.

I am surprised the hood is no more$$, maybe I being old school, but I would of thought it would of cost more. Is that painted to match? if so I am going to look into a new hood. Like the scoop!!

I'm not sure about dry ice. The dents are right at the curve or shape in the hood. I've never tried it, though, so I'm not sure.

Plus, I don't think I could get the scrapes out.

After I pulled over, I did not walk back to it but I did see it in the rear view mirror, and people were driving around it. It looked like just a piece of a limb - mayby 5" in diameter.

Take it to a paintless dent remover. You will be amazed what they can get out. Let a guy who can detail great get ahold to it with a buffer, and I'll bet you won't be able to tell it ever happened. As long as the scratches aren't that deep. I had a Porsche that had a large door ding in the back quarter panel right in the curve. Paintless dent guy took it out in about 10 minutes and looked like new. I would have never believed it.

Good luck, sorry you have to mess with it.
