Keep in mind, Gibson is like 23. Also, he missed the last game of West Final and part of the game before. I think they were winning or tied and then Bernier gave a few up. Either way, he's a top young goalie right now. But to each their own. I agree his playoff numbers could be stronger compared to reg season, but still pretty solid overall.

Ya, I don't think they could swing many deals like that, considering they have nothing to offer in return, really. But I forget the ins and out of the Brown thing. But something with the money ended up being a win-win for both parties if they did the deal. I don't know if LA would keep some salary for him or if Vegas can spread the remaining contract around. Something like that.

 

If LA keeps salary and Las Vegas gets a few picks it can be a win-win, but retaining any of Brown's salary won't help the Kings in the long term.

 

It won't cost anything to deal him. He's still a playoff calibre goalie. They can simply just buy him out if nothing makes sense and have Vegas bid against other more attractive teams as a UFA. Pens are in the drivers seat on this deal IMO. Vegas is going to want to make the playoffs in year one also so they will want him

True, I didn't think about that. I was more just looking (in theory) with what you had going out vs what was coming in. I'm sure it isn't happening but I feel like getting him is worth that in a trade (term aside).

 

He's also just assuming Pens don't keep Bonino and he randomly signs there etc. So I get that it's purely speculation. I guess (again, term aside) I think Tavares would be so sick on team like SJ. If he goes to the right place, he might go to another level.

Quick question, as I'm either forgetting something or overlooking. But that link has Tavares on a line with Pavelski. Aren't they both centers?

 

Tavares is not leaving the islanders. If he does you have to think it would be too go to Toronto but it's not happening. Another month and we will see if he resigns

 

Tavares is on record saying he has unfinished business with the Islanders. I can't see him leaving unless management does something stupid.
