So I'm working on getting my 67 Mustang running again and I'm having ignition trouble. I believe my MSD 6AL is toast. Runs for about 10 min until everything gets hot then looses spark. Anyway I'm running a full MSD ignition, pro billet distributor, 6AL, wires etc. I'm thinking I can substitute a GM HEI unit in place of the 6AL for temporary to see if it fixes the problem. Any reason this won't work?

I know that the GM HEI can be used in place of the MSD. Can't comment on the wiring diagram as I haven't done it. However, you need to use a heat sink with heat transfer paste. HEI modules heat up and crap out without a good heat sink.

Thanks, looks like I'm going to try this in the next few days.

I got a HEI heatsink lying around in the garage. It's yours for free if you decide to go ahead with it.

Got it done last night. Seems to be working good.

Thanks for the offer se7enine, but I made a ghettofabulous one yesterday.
