I can use it as a step to step out of the truck instead of the door sill. Getting in really doesn't require a step. You can stand on them to reach the top of your truck. I have a kicker in the rear that is a larger place to step.

One thing to note is that they make it slightly harder to get in for short people.

I can't just jump right in anymore. I have to be careful or raise my knee to my chest to step on the slider to get in. The reason why is my calves would touch the slider. If the sliders are dirty then my legs will get dirty. So I try to keep them clean. I do a running jump now. Yes I'm short.

I have two kids and a wife so I'm trying to figure out how to make it viable for them. Maybe something that sticks out further by the sounds of it.

Kids are young. Oldest is 3 and a half.

I had @Shmellmopwho make me some custom steps when he built my sliders. If the rear didn't have a kickout I could get it more towards the rear but it works. like a dropped step but is removable.

I'm 6' 1" and it worked for me if I didn't want to take a bigger step in and out. My boys are 6 and 9 years old but taller than average. I had them made for the younger boy but he's able to hop in without it now. My wife who's 5' 1" can step in fine without it but she wears flats.

you can see the removable steps in my video here on the front at the beginning and later towards the rear when he demo's his hi lift jack adapter.

Here's my son stepping in the rear. If there was no kick out we could have moved it farther back.

Ryan did a great job and if you guys are in LA hit him up. The smaller things he can ship anywhere.

    Like, so many.
What's the purpose of a kick out?

What are the pros and cons on ordering the sliders powder coated? @Harvo , you painted yours? Pretty simple? Thanks!

    Working on it.
The advantages for me were to have an even, textured, slip resistant durable coating. That said from a functional perspective paint works, is easy to touch up and does the job of prohibiting rust. No wrong answer if you buy a quality set of sliders.

Is it possible to get them flat or does the 20 degree still work well as a running board too? My kids and sometime parents have trouble getting in and out. I like the filled in version with the kickout and love the clamping mount made.

Yes. Specify on the order notes that you want them flat.

    For me,
    1- cheaper
    2- easier to touch up
3- looks better after several touch ups

Mine were easy because the metal arrived so clean. No oxidation or even light surface rust. All I had to do was wipe down with alcohol and paint. I used prime and paint in one and about 6 cans of it

Previous set of sliders I painted. This time around I had them powdercoated by Mobtown. Nonslip, rust free, and if you do scrape off the powdercoat on some rocks just spray paint over those sections.
