I got 8mpg towing a loaded u-haul trailer for 300 miles down I95. Stock gears, 35's, and cruising around 80mph - recipe for awful mpgs.

i was getting 11mpg too... so random..

I had a rtt and gears and 34's

then I took the rtt off... and got 19ish on the highway.. around 17 city

i think this stupid motor needs you to back of the pedal and reapply presure to "maintain" speed or it never lets the otto cycle shut down and robs mpg. I hate the way this truck is designed but Im too modded to do anything but cry about it

My theory is rooftop tents were invented by the oil companies. My normal tent had no discernible effect on fuel economy when I throw it in the back to go camping.

My tent doesn't change my gas mileage. :notsure:

Granted it's under my soft topper but still.

    Haha.

I'm so tempted to downsize. Or at least go to a lighter all terrain.

4970 miles - 20.3 mpg average. Worst 17.1, best 22.4, all calculated as I have the cheap package. Worst mileage was pulling small trailer with light load and running 70. (Had to run 70 plus to get into power band, or drop to 4th gear) After this past weekend, it finally seems to be loosening up a bit.

What I keep observing, for example is that when I reset my ECU my MPGs were pretty terrible (~15mpg) but it drove nearly perfect. As it slowly increased efficiency, MPGs started inching back up toward 19-20 avg but in the process seems to be starving the engine causing vibes and roughness... probably just a sensor problem on my truck that's going to be a bitch to diagnose but that's my experience.
