My tent gave me a hernia this weekend. Surgery scheduled for July...

Also, selling the tent to my GF's brother until I can either afford a trailer or a hardshell tent. Trailer is preferred.

You were able to add 2" of memory foam and still close the tent without issues? Just thinking because my original 2" foam mattress is pretty much toast after this next trip. It was starting to show its age already and then while I was trying to take it out to wash the cover, I ripped off a big slab from the mattress. I was thinking of replacing it with a 3" memory foam topper but worried about closing the tent.

    Not enough...
I have a short box and PrInSu racks on the cab and the shell. Shell rack used to have risers, but i removed them when i got the Mt. Shasta, so now the shell rack sits about 1/2" lower than the cab rack. I am going to have to add some rubber or nylon blocks under the new tent. But yeah, its going to stick over the cab. I figured I would push it back a bit to stick out in line with the tailgate.

It seems they just officially let the word out on their tent today. Should theoretically be up on the website soon. I'm undoubtedly sticking with my new Tepui, but it's always cool to see what new competition will do.

Interesting. I just saw the rack advertisement the other day. It's pretty cool looking.

Yup! The 2" memory foam compresses pretty easy. I keep the original mattress, the memory foam, sheets, up to 2 comforters/sleeping bags, and 2-4 (fairly flat) pillows in there. It's tight but closes just fine.

Haha yeah. Funny thing is my girlfriend asked me today if there is a lighter version of our tent that I could get so I don't hurt myself as often. Mine is the smallest RTT out there haha. It's only 100 lbs, but its the awkward lifting off of a 6'6" vehicle that hurt me.

The key with the memory foam for me at least, I put it under the mattress that came with the tent because it's weird feeling if I laid directly on it, still made it very comfortable. I cut it in half right at the fold so that it would fold up in the tent better without bunching up at the fold.

They are awkward as hell to handle.

Good tip on the memory foam, thanks.

Yeah. Especially on the 4runner. I would happily have one if I had a bed rack on a tacoma.

Thanks @SixthSnail @TheNatural - I'm on the lookout for some memory foam and have a better idea what to look for.

It's a bit of a game trying to decide what to get since my tent is 72"x96". Do I get a California King and leave myself short, or do I get a twin+double but then I can't cut it in half. Decisions, decisions...

Dang that is big. I had the full size from costco. GF cut it to fit the tent, and used the extra left over to complete the length.
