Oregon, Alaska, Montana, Delaware, and New Hampshire. Regardless, saying TTL is relative. In Seattle, I pay 10.1% sales tax. lol Wayyy different than a lot of states. Often double. hence why I'm buying out of state. It's nearly $4,000 in sales tax for a new Limited here.

I have another post about that. Costco is baseline discount for dealers. One dealer gave me a "costco price" and that price was $20 more than the dealer the truck was actually sitting at. Make sure you run the VIN when truck searching. Often dealers will swap with other dealers to make a sale if they don't have the rig on the lot. Costco is just a starting point, just like Truecar.com or Carfax.

Just bought a 17 Inferno SR5 double cab, 4x4 for ~33,600. MSRP was 36,400 and then some dealer add ons(window tint, pin stripe) brought it up to like 37,100... Felt like I got a decent deal.

Pretty sure you will still need to pay tax to Washington. Even if you pay a lower rate (or no tax) in another state, when you register it in Washington you will need to pay the the full tax, or the difference if you paid a lower tax rate in another state.

I just bought my new 2017 DBLCLB TRD offroad from the Toyota dealer in south Lake Tahoe ! Great place to buy . They did not have the truck I wanted so I told them the dealer in Sacramento did . They got it for me and charged me 200 over for a well equipped Inferno Orange model.
I got everything I wanted on it and absolutely nothing I didn't !

Talked to a GW last weekend who picked up a Pro at a dealer in Tx at $3500 off MSRP. Not sure of all the details but it was a rural dealer that just wanted sell vehicles. Dealer is just an hour from my house so they are now on my list for future Tundra purchase. Best deal I have heard of on a Pro.

I was also going to make this point. I live in TN and looked at buying a truck in AL, they said I'd still have to pay the full 9.5% TN tax.

First post and read this thread thoroughly before going to the dealership so thought I would add to it. Thanks to all of you that posted prices.

2017 TRD Sport Double Cab 2WD in Silver. Came with Towing Package, Carpet mats, bed lighting, predator tube steps and Vehicle Protection Package (I know, this is essentially nothing)

    MSRP $35,116 with options
    Negotiated price $32,000
Recent-grad incentive $-750 Had to go with Toyota Financing at 3.7% but am set up to refinance at 1.99% through my local credit union.
    Price Paid 31,250 plus TTL

Got my 2017 TRD Off Road 4WD DCSB Silver with JBL package, tow package, all weather liners /door sill, mudguards, mini tie down loop, and D rings for $35,200 + tax & DMV fees (MSRP was $40,007). I worked lots of different dealers online and brought my best offer to a local dealer and told them to beat it. It was intense but feel really good about it.

I've seen several advertised at 2k off MSRP. So $3500 off doesn't surprise me much. 42-46k is just too much.

True, but my point was that posting OTD pricing is pointless because it can vary by as much as 10% of the total cost of the vehicle. For all of the buyers in those 5 states, they can look at that price and say, "ha! I beat that by $2,000", when in reality they paid more for the actual vehicle and just saved on tax. The true goal here is to pay as little for the truck as possible. Tax is just a different set of expenses.

When is everyone going to understand that MSRP is relative to the dealership and regions? The same exact truck at different dealers, states, and regions will have different MSRP.

Let's take my truck for example. They tried to have MSRP for the window tint priced at $600. Some dealers include that for free. Some dealers add $199 for nitro tires. Some dealers include TMF in the MSRP.

There's so much variance in MSRP, thinking that a discount from MSRP is a good deal is a bad way to negotiate. I got $4998 off MSRP on my truck. I got a great deal. Doesn't mean I got the "best" deal.
