    That's what I would do.

OP I have never heard of anyone saying to work on a truck with the battery connected. Especially electrical work. Does the 3rd gen break down when unhooking the battery?

Did you mess with any grounds? I would check those, the battery terminals, and fuses.

No. It throws a fit if you do anything with the battery connected though. Lol. Which he just found out the hard way.:anonymous:

Because it's always live. Unless you use a relay but still, why not use an accessory fuse that powers on with key only.

Because sometimes you want something to be able to always turn on without having to route more than one wire through the firewall. Like camping lights for example.

That's not a contraindication to wiring to a full time hot. That's just a preference....

Not to be a smart ass but by that logic no one should use electricity.

As long as you fuse your circuit correctly and don't leave your accessory on, its perfectly fine.

No different than wiring straight to battery....

magnuson-moss warranty act, modified vehicle owners best friend. One critical portion of this law states the burden of proof to void a warranty lays with the dealer and manufacturer to prove the modification were the root cause of failure. There is no "you're voided 'cause you modded". Trust me when I tell you MOST manufacturers will cave at the term "I will have my lawyer contact you and explain the MMWA."

So, when wiring up mods on the truck, you should disconnect the battery? Asking for a friend. Negative only or both positive and negative? Again... for a friend.:anonymous:

Disconnect neg and wait for the charge to dissipate, or disconnect both and cross the wires (not battery terminals) once disconnected with a metallic object to remove the charge.

When ever I hear this, "disconnect the neg" my first reaction is to disagree. In my head I always think what happens if the neg grounds out on something, thus completing the circuit. So I have alway thought remove the pos, thus as long as its not possible to touch the pos terminal all will be ok.

That being said, some one explained why the neg is the one to remove, but I can never remember why.
