Icon Stage 1 - 3" Lift - PICS - Need New Wheels - Offset/Backspacing Advice?

Hey all,

Just put a Icon Stage 1 w/ Icon AALs and SPC UCAs on my 2011 TRD Off Road Doublecab Shortbed Tacoma today. Next are BFG KO2s, but I don't have enough backspace/offset to get a 285/75R16 in there.

If you haven't realized it already, I'm very new to all of this, but trying to learn as fast as I can. Thanks in advance for your help!

If you don't want to plunk down for new wheels, you can just get some 1" spacers, which will give you plenty of room. Though you'll still probably want to consider a cab mount chop if you're going with 285s.

 

Or you can do what I did. Buy some extended studs for a Lexus is300 from summit and buy those cheap spacer plates from advanced auto parts.

 

I ran 285/70/17 with -12mm offset on wheels. No cabmount chop needed. Simply removed front mud flaps as well as the mudflap looking piece in front of the front tire as well. No rubbing

 

Good to hear, I'm hoping a 285/75/R16 will have the same result for me.

 

You will rub the cab mount and the inner fender next to it with some compression. I tried getting away with not doing it but it's tearing up the outer lugs.

 

I heard cutting the cab mount will void insurance claims on the vehicle, is there any truth to this?

 

I have not heard of this issue before.

 

-10 or -12 offset gives you the best stance in my opinion and you wont need to run a spacer. tire size is a matter of preferance. i run 285's and didnt need to do the cab mount chop....but i also dont do alot of "offroading"...most of my offroading is done on the beach. with a -12 offset you'll have the wheels poke out passed the fender roughly an inch so use that as a guide. the lower the number ie: -10..-5 etc....pushes the wheels into the fender. factory wheels are 0 offset.

i run a -12 offset with 285's and only have very suttle rubbing on the driverside front when going in reverse and cutting the wheel to the left. doesnt bother me at this point.
