I have owned 2 Toyotas (not including my 3rd gen), and their reputation is well-earned in my opinion. But, the other Companies are reliable now too.

You have to understand that next year, none of the new 18 year-olds spent even one day of their lives in the 90s or 80s. Those were years when Automakers took big risks and made a lot of mistakes. Quality among the different brands were all over the place in those times. Quality is nearly the same now.

just using my eyes you'd believe there are Raptors Raptors everywhere. up here in NTX they are so common... didn't know so many truck buyers had so much cash/credit. i just drove to Dallas and back and saw at least 8 or 10 of them not even looking around.

In theory can you yes, will it void the warranty yes. Best ideal setup on the 3.5 would be rear mount but the tuning is another situation you'll have to have done.

I distinctly recall an episode of "Dukes of Hazzard" where Bo and Luke were able to unbolt a turbocharger from one car in a parking lot then install it in theirs. They were subsequently able to evade pursuit with alacrity. Since it is a simple matter of a few bolts that can take place in a few minutes in a parking lot one could easily unbolt the turbo before having any warranty work done on the car, the dealer would be none the wiser!

If you could get it to spin, you wouldn't be able to find all the pieces of that 3.5L.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
I used to work at a hospital and during Hurricane Rita in 2008 we had to stay since there were still patients that couldn't be safely evacuated. A friend and me went to the door and opened it during the eye of the storm. The pressure was so intense it flung the door open and it took 4 of us to close it.

However, just to live out a lifelong goal, he said he wanted to piss in the wind of a hurricane. We all stepped back and just as suspected, that vacuum that flung the door opened was the same one that helped Eddie piss on his own face. I literally couldn't breathe we laughed so hard at him.

"Belief" Is key. And new trucks have a harder time passing that belief along. There isn't hardly anyone that hasn't heard that the Colorado can end up with huge service bills, with people lining up at their attorneys, so the truck kind of languishes. Everyone has heard about Toyota's recall trouble, yet they still go and get them because it's been associated with great experiences for decades.
Everyone remember the black Toyota truck in Back to the Future? I didn't see a Ranger or Frontier in a movie that I can remember like that one.

Look at nearly any dealer's inventory. Base models outnumber the special models 10:1. Believe me, they move.

It's an ABB turbo for a marine slow speed engine. They're pretty comfy to clean out when the rotor assembly has been removed for maintenance. You can lay down inside the casing and the curve is juuuust right for a nap. The one in the picture is rotated, when they're installed on the engine the two openings that you can see point downwards.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Do you have $10k to throw at your new truck? Then go for it. Con rods aRe forged so they should take it.

If you're budget is $1000, get a cold air intake and sweet exhaust.

Yup. I will go as far as to say, the Gen 1 Colorado/Canyon is really sticking it to the Gen 2, which is a substantially better truck.

Going back to the original question... I havent seen anyone do it, and i thought there was a court case that said that a warranty could not be voided for modifying your vehicle but could be voided for the direct point of modification IE: if put a cold air intake on with no filter and you blew your motor, that was on you. BUT if the rearend goes back its still covered.

The Aktinson cycle is mostly managed by the cams, right? I would imagine if you changed the came you could alter it in a way to allow for a turbo, just like with the GM DoD cams? Just spitballing, don't really know.

Also saw someone say when you use ECT button it kills the Atkinson cycle. So just install turbo and hit the ECT button. :D

Talk about a jacked thread. Sorry about that OP.

You are looking at quite the project. I've got some homework for you.
Read @Torspd epic project on his build thread. He has had a few 2nd gen 4.0 turbo motors.

Then, if you are ready to talk to the crowd of forced injection doctors and wannabees, the Turbo BS Thread is for you.

And if you really want to blow your mind... look at this Bi-Turbo Taco, with some extra pistons.

If you want forced injection and a supercharger can get you high, keep watching URD. Gadget is always working on something and I'll be surprised he doesn't hit the Gen3 soon if he hasn't already.

I always suspected this, because if you are cruising down the highway with CC on at a constant speed and hit the ECT, you'll see MPG drop and the truck has a different driveline feel. More powerful.

this is total speculation. we don't have a pure Atkinson motor. we don't have the same hardware a true Atkinson motor has in the con rods... so who knows what the actual limitations are, if any.
