Agree. I am not saving mpg so much with a 1 mpg increase but I use shell 93 due to its independently proven cleaning performance above all other fuels. When I can't get it I use premium top tier from some other gas supplier. Truck runs great. No pinging from low octane etc. Pulls strong. I'm just mostly hoping to keep my newer truck like new with the shell 93 nitro premium. It's expensive but I use my 87 four cylinder nova half the year that gets 36 mpg easily to offset the high fuel costs and added mileage on the Tacoma.
    Thanks for the caring post.

First tank of gas and I have 1/4 tank left. I'm pleasantly surprised by how good the mileage is.

If like mine your fill up reads 365 miles to empty that's the way it's programmed even if you average 22 mpg with a range of 460 miles plus. I see 17. 3 listed on your dash. Not so good. If I drive sane in no hurry I'm usually between 18.7 and 19.7 but have achieved 22.1 I think. I have the TRD sport double cab, manual V6 with 4 x4. Rarely used the 4X so far. My mileage has been dropping. I'm at 15 k now. I think I'm doing more local driving and have returned to my old habits of being in a hurry all the time with less focus on babying my beloved Tacoma.
Right now I'm relying on my old 87 nova with an auto three speed and 1.6 carbureted engine that is so slow but gets 36 mpg and once got 50 mpg on a long slow ride in the granny lane and no ac on with all windows closed driving carefully like an old lady because I just inherited it from my mom and was on its maiden voyage almost 300 miles back to my house from New Hampshire to northwestern Ct where I live. I wasn't sure the old car could mane such a trip but it did and we use it in summer mostly to save wear and fuel costs with the Tacoma.

Well this is my first tank so I'll see how it goes. This is with 3 round trips of freeway driving with hills to climb and then there's rush hour traffic which is a slow roll for about 40 mins, this is southern California at its worst. I am hoping that as the engineer breaks in it'll do better

I got 24mpg 100% highway driving the other day. 6th gear at around 65 seems to be the mpg sweet spot

That's pretty good mpg. It represents my best I attained only once though until recently I've been veering 19.7 often. Dannyblues

I've been averaging about 21-23 highway, right around 65mph. at 67, I see closer to 21, and 63 closer to 23. Pretty nuts that 4mph can make that big of a difference. Been running 92 from Shell and my truck gets the additional 2ish mpg.

This is with 265 duratracs, leer canopy, and prinsu rack.

That's great mpg. I have the double cab TRD V6 with manual six speed, tow package and 4 WD. I don't think I'd ever get that gas mileage in mine. I've gotten like 22.1 once but all highway, no a/c, windows all up, cargo cover, and driving 55 to 60 with a little 65 mph. All in the sandwich or granny lanes. No passing. Dannyblues

    P. S. I also find using Shell nitro 93 premium gas gets me at least 1 mpg more. I don't use that gas just for the minimul gas mpg increase. I use it to keep the engine as clean as and running like new. It's an independently proven fact that that shell gas outperforms all other fuels for keeping an engine clean as new. It's reported that even one tankful can remove as much as 65% of built up gunk in an engine if you don't want to spend the extra money and use it all the time as I try to do. Dannyblues

It isn't. I've had partial tank trips getting high 20s and even low 30s. But full tank road trips not even close. My overall average is so high because my daily commute averages around 45mph but my average road trip at 70mph comes in around 21-22mpg.

My truck has been getting a steady 21-22 mpg driving on paved rural roads mostly, speeds from 35-70 mph. But now I think my dash display is messing up, I could've sworn it reset to 0 on every startup, lately it's keeping the last mpg and going up or down from there. I've pulled the negative cable from the battery, it reset to 0, then when back to holding the last mpg. Could y'all tell me if yours resets to 0 on startup? It's not a major deal, but if it's messing up I want to have it looked at to make sure there's not something that needs repaired or replaced. No mods have been done to the truck. Thanks

New member, first post. I average about 22mpg. Best mileage using Exxon. Always use 87 octane.

I started running the air conditioner recently. With the A/C on mileage drops 1.2 MPG. When I turn off the A/C mileage increases 1.2 MPG.

I did this with 285/75r16 ko2's, a 2" lift and sliders. I don't get why people complain about the mileage these trucks get.

Went mountain biking this morning, great mileage coming off the mountain. Wouldn't go over 99.9, I was hoping to see triple digits. IMG_0848.jpg

26.2 mpg V6 4x4 flat terrain 60 mph constant in 2wd double cab 5 ft bed, AC on, front air dam on.

    Not complaining at all.
