This is what mine looked like today....it wouldn't go in any further so I said Fu*k it and re-installed the CV. I haven't taken it for a drive yet but everything seems to be back together as it was before the ECGS bushing.

Have you had any problems with yours since the install? I'm worried that mine may be in too far (since I hammered it in pretty good) and will contact the spider gears. It felt good in there before I put things back together....fingers crossed for tomorrow.

This is just a guess, but if the bushing is rubbing the spider gear, it'll wear in. Just change your diff fluid in a few thousand miles.

IF I remember correctly, I think I bottomed mine out when I installed it. It's been about 4,000 miles now with no problems. I changed my diff fluid about 1,000 miles ago and it looked fine. It probably didn't even need to be changed but it's cheap insurance.

I've only put maybe a thousand miles on the truck since I did this, but it seems to be fine. No issues at all.

I'm just worried that it will wreck something if it's too far in. Not like it matters since I can't get the ECGS removal tool behind it.

That's what I thought needed to happen with the new bushing but it literally wouldn't go in any further.

That's very good to hear since mine looks almost identical to yours. How much was yours sticking out? Best guess mine was 1/16"-1/8" on the high side. CV axle went in all the way and looked just like it did before this cluster.

You are probably good to go. Mine was probably out 1/16" I could could just barely feel that the edge of the bushing was not flush... It would not budge any further at that point though. I figure if it was a problem it would have shown up by now as audible metal on metal.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
3rd Gen here. Just FYI that bushing and seal fit perfectly and install exactly like a 2nd gen, using the same tools used on a 2nd Gen. I know this because we have now installed it on 2 2nd Gens and my 3rd Gen and it's been flawless. About to do my 4Runner...

I would agree that you should be fine and can monitor it closely with inspecting the diff oil.

Just for follow up if anyone was watching this....

ECGS got back to me and said that the bearing should sit flush but having it stick out slightly it will still be on the bearing surface of the shaft and if the CV clipped in, all should be ok.
