We don't have a football team so I've been grafted in as a Michigan fan (at least for football).

 

While we're at it I'll just leave this here.

 

They've said in the past that they wanted Lincoln Riley to eventually be Stoops successor. The timing is just so crazy. The first school that fires someone mid season will start the race on him, depending on if nothing bad comes out of OU.

Auburn, A&M, Tenn, NotreDame...

My first thought when I saw he was "stepping down" and it wasn't due to health reasons, there are some sort of sanctions coming down or he knows about something that he doesn't want to deal with.

You don't get through the whole recruiting process, have spring ball, then randomly decide it's not for you.

He's only 56. He'll be back coaching somewhere, maybe not this year, but 2018 at least.

 

Apparently you're driftering tonight. The big 12 isn't shit anymore. That's the truth of the matter. While A&M hasn't won anything of merit as of late, their position in the SEC and Texas means they're a good head coach away from being a perennial top 10 program and eventual title contenders. BUT, they have to find the right coach who wants to stay there.

And yes, I'm an Aggie. I'm no homer though. I'm about as objective about our sports teams as anyone can be. Go to any of the previous years' threads and you'll see that.

 

Saw a report that he got $700,000 bonus for being the coach on 6/1. Maybe he wanted to leave at end of season but stayed for that last bonus.

You're right about how it is right now. But as I said earlier, a good head coach can change that. I think he's a piece of shit, but he knows football.

You can count on one hand the number of schools that will be looking for a coach and have a big enough name and big enough check book to get his attention. A&M is one of them. Your burnt orange glasses are blinding you from seeing the reality. You're stuck in the last decade.

And I'm not saying he'd come here, but if he got an offer he'd damn sure consider it.

 

Define last decade. You have to go back 19 years to get to your last conference championship.

Yes I bleed burnt orange. But I know when my team sucks and when they don't.
Yours has pretty much sucked for the previous 10 years from today and the 10 years before those. You have to go back to the mid 90's to find a short period when aggy was relevant.

Both of my children were born exactly on their due date. Oddly enough, both of their due dates were December 11th, two years apart.

 

Ha! What shame? ESPN is covering an NCAA super regional in Houston. They have broadcast trucks in Austin because they own the Longhorn Network. Just makes sense to use the trucks that are close by.

And I just looked it up. The Longhorn baseball announcers were calling the games in Houston.
Lowel Galindo and Keith Moreland. So it looks like they used the whole crew that covers baseball for the Longhorn network to cover Houston.
