Knowing nothing about automotive paint or painting in general, I walked in my local automotive paint shop and told them I wanted to color match the caps. Appearently, even with a paint code the color will still have a different shade to it. They used some type of camera device, snap shot my truck, and mixed the color up in a spray can.

I did remove the caps compeletly off the truck.

 

How much did that run you?......Deciding if I should just rattle can them or get it done professionally

I was lucky enough to score some color matched caps on TW marketplace and I sold my chrome ones locally on CL. With lots of patients, I managed to end up with no money out of pocket.

 

That would be ideal......have to work on the patients though

 

It was rough for sure. I had about 5 CL search cities that I would check every other day as well as TW marketplace daily from the day I order my truck in June of last year and didn't find any MGM ones until the end of January of this year. I separated my chrome caps, made numerous listings online FB, CL, TW etc. and finally sold everything just last month to two separate people (one backed into a pole and the other got clipped in a parking lot). Wow, looking back, it took 11 months to make it happen

 

makes me wish I had the 6ft bed... or that I was 5ft tall

 

Well, the Gordigear tent was actually installed a few days ago, after some modification was necessary to the mounting hardware to handle the Aero bars, but yesterday saw the install of the Icon Vehicle Dynamics stage 2 suspension with the add-a-leaf, and the new rims and BFG K02 in 275/70x17 size. Pretty happy with the results so far. Ride seems much more controlled.

 

For $100 you can get these and never have to worry about scratches or fading from the plastidip. I think it has been well worth it and then definitely look nice. This was one of my first purchases.
