Let's talk Icon's new Delta Joint

Not yet, They use different sized 1" bearings. They will be out for other manufacturer's arms around SEMA. First page has links to measurements for the different 1" bearings.

Jesus the next SEMA is in October/ November. It's really going to take them that long? What a drag.

 

Lots of R&D and getting suppliers tooled up for the new products plus loads of test miles like they did with the first round of delta joints. Be patient, they will be released and it could be sooner than SEMA.

Got my UCA's on, took me 4 hours and that included rebuilding both front Icon's.

 

Looks Awesome! Any noticeable noise with them so far? I ordered already...waiting...

 

ZERO, Liberal grease on the poly bushings and the Delta joint comes pregreased.

Just got back from alignment and they got it all were I wanted it to be.

 

That's what I'm hoping for... My Uni-balls are shit. The Teflon liner is disintegrating and is causing a build up of particulate on the ball causing squeak from hell (More than the norm) which I'm accustomed too. I'm cleaning the Uni-balls about every week at this point and I'm ready for this new solution. Sounds promising so far

Edit: Did you use the ICON press adapter kit?

 

I never greased my bushings ever. Got zero noise originating from them also.

 

I bought UCA's so they came with Delta Joints pre installed. I have the press kit and it works well when I have used it on customer vehicles.

There is no reasoning with us when it comes to mods and update on how well or not they work.

 

The T4R rides awesome and silent as always! I have been driving it the last couple days and zero issues/noises with the new arms. I will be camping/wheeling the following week and a half and will update when I get back.

 

So...put these babies in today. First impression...buttery smooth and no noise whatsoever.. Bought the press kit and it had to be cut down (about an inch) because the C-Clamp wasn't wide enough to grab the top and bottom to press the ball into the UCA's. Then...after placing the C-Clamp into position and trying to crank it tight to press in the ball...No Joy!! The ball casing was too snug to squeeze the joints into place. Had to remove the UCA's and use the wooden mallet procedure with the bushing press provided. That did the trick! It's important to ensure the ball joints are properly aligned when pressing or tapping them into the UCA housing!!! Hence the ball press kit has an angled shim that allows for proper pressing. Don't want to screw up a good UCA!.. Also ensure you use the anti-sieze compound and apply it around the ball casing before pressing it into the UCA housing.

You guys might not have my issue and be able to press them in while the UCA's are mounted on the chassis, but I had to do it the optional way. Nevertheless, it was a success and the bushings are seated properly and perform amazingly! FYI...the top of the ball housing has a needle zerk fitting, but the kit also comes with the standard zerks which I used to inject grease. After the grease was injected the needle zerks were placed back on. Reason being is that the standard zerks are taller and will not allow the UCA cap to fit back on. The needle zerks are low profile and allow the cap to be placed back on. Small kine problem...no biggy. Just keep the standard zerks around for grease time unless you have a needle tip grease gun to apply the grease. Haven't driven that far yet, but initial impressions are that they are worth it. My Uni-Balls looked like a shit storm after inspecting them removed..
