I wouldn't make a trip to ride this trail but the Coeur d' Alene and Spokane area have some sensational trail systems. I'm down with Disco! Silver Mt. opened two weeks ago, that mountain is the SHIT!

Serious issue I am running into. I am new to the Tacoma scene but not the 4x4 scene, please forgive me. Everyone I ride with has thru-axles, taking off the front wheel is not an option. But with a half rack and RTT it is extremely difficult finding an adequate set-up that can do both the RTT and MTBs effectively. The goal is off-road (Tacoma) to the top of Windrock, ride MTBs all weekend up there, and Tacoma on the way back. A hitch rack is not an option due to departure angle and a bed pad is not an option due to my CBI swingaway. Any recommendations?

You have "tacoed" your wheel, sir. There is no fixing that safely. I recommend the Industry Nine Trail or Enduro wheelset :D. Expensive but heavy duty as hell where that will never happen

^^ Not sure I get it, why is taking off the front wheel not an option? Or do you have DH forks with pinch bolts? I'm finally using my hitch rack with wheel trays, but for most of the last two years we have just been taking front wheels off and using Kurt fork mounts with our thru-axle bikes, so they fit in the short bed (DCSB). Only takes a minute.

I run a 15mm front end, it is a major pain in the ass and you risk misaligning the rotors every time. I am just not a huge fan of that process (I am just spoiled with my hitch rack I suppose) but may have to end up going that route

Our bikes are 15x100 thru-axle and I've never had a problem with rotor alignment. My old Rock Shix axle was a pain but the newer one I got free from Rock Shox, and the axle on my wife's XFusion fork (Syntace I think) is even easier to remove and replace. I agree it gets kind of old doing this multiple times a day, which is why we're using the hitch rack more recently, but I've probably done several hundred remove and replace operations on these axles with no issues.

It seems like you have a cab mounted roof rack in your future if you want to meet all of those requirements. However, it will sit super high, and to get a roof rack that lets you keep both wheels on, there'll be a lot of wobble, especially out wheeling.

Exact same setup. Got rail from dealer and had to look up part number specifying a head rail for 2015. Fit perfect using the same holes and bolts already in my 2017. Ordered my RockyMounts all keyed the same. Can fork mount three bikes with my setup. Road bikes fit with tailgate closed.

Tandem fits with tailgate down resting on rear wheel on gate for short trips in town. Long trips I remove the rear wheel too, put some foam insulation on the chainstays and strap down to keep from sliding side to side (don't over tighten the strap).

Unless you have a QR skewer, the rotor should always align back up the same everytime. I've never heard of a misaligned rotor with a thru-axle

I think you're right. But I have seen some wheel tray racks that mount further out from the body. I am thinking an attachment for a rack that would mount the bike rack in the perimeter of the rack

Thinking about going up Saturday. Going to wait and see how much it rains tomorrow, was super greasy & slow on Memorial day, and the ground hasn't really gotten any drier since then.

So I had posted a few days ago about wrecking my bike, it's at the shop now for repair. They called me yesterday said the wheel has to be replaced, as well as the rotor and the brake assembly. I'm going to a tubeless wheel setup, but will still be running the old tube and tire on it until they wear out some more. He said 110$ for the repair/replacement (can't recall if that included labor). Does that sound like a fair price to those that have ever done this kind of stuff?
