    Ive been think about painting my chrome grill and billet insert black. What is the best way i can do it without pealing?

    Custom built and painted grill, iPod interface, TRD shift knob, TRD cat back exhaust, Flowmaster muffler, 285/75/R16 Mickey Thompson Baja Radials, blacked out emblems, 3" Daystar Lift, Halo headlights, Hunter 4x4 bull bar, 1 1/2 wheel spacers, rooftop light bar, KC daylighters
    I've done it and I haven't had any peeling, but I get pummeled with rock chips.

    First thing you need to do is sand down a lot and make sure you clean it well too.

    what grit sand paper? alos what about the billet grill?

    I think I've used 180 or 120 on all the things I've painted. With the billet grill I would sand it down too and use the same process. Rough it up pretty good. Oh, and I would use primer too.

    TRD S/C 3" sky jacker suspension lift,33" kumho road venture mt kl71's 16" 320c pacer wheels,billet grill,EBC slotted and dimpled rotors,super 44 muffler with gutted cat,smoked l.e.d. tail lights, deck plate mod with K&N filter,fog/blinker mod,cobra cb with 4' firestick antenna/100W PA,clear corners with l.e.d bulbs,55w back up lights,urd O2 sim., blue l.e.d bulbs behind gauge cluster.
    I painted my grille surround black i started with 600 grit sand paper to get rid of the chrome then painted it with about 5 coats of gloss black and i put about 4 coats of clear then wet sanded it with 1000 grit sand paper then went to 2000 and finally i polished the hell out of it, its shiner than the paint on the truck:D

    only took a couple of hours, well worth the outcome.
