Yeah, but it could be worse. At my old job I worked every weekend, usually both days. Here I only have to work a half day on Saturday every couple of months. Sucks, though. Tomorrow's supposed to be a B-E-A-utiful day and I'll be stuck here. In the bunker.

 

Could be worse then for sure. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and easy for you.

 

I doubt it. I'll be working with a couple of morons, lol.

Quick update on the engineering stuff. I asked our intern that is a senior in a good school (ME) to measure some parts with a micrometer. He didn't know what it was or how to use one. How does one get through engineering classes and not learn measurement practices and repeatability? That's like an EE student never being taught how to use an oscilloscope, ChemE not using a graduated cylinder, etc... needless to say he was taught on how to use one and why one use use it vs a caliper, etc... All without making him feel bad...

 

Is one of them the skanky, loose chick?

 

Engineering schools seem to be going downhill. I have run in to a few co-ops that didnt know basic things. Maybe I am biased since I went to the best hands on engineering school around.

 

Wanna do that but teach me the CAD and paperwork side? Lol

Doesn't every city have a brewery these days? Even my crappy city has one.

 

It's cause kids just want to do everything on the computer rather than by hand. Then they get out on the field, on the shop floor etc and end up making engineers look even more idiotic than the guys actually building the stuff already think we are.

 

Ya good point. It is all the rage now a days.

 

I tend to agree with you, which is one of the reasons I chose the school I did. It's more of a blue collar engineering school. They make you do everything by hand, the long way the entire year, then show you the computer programs towards the end. They want you to understand how the computer churns things out. Also, if you know the math behind it, you can usually gut check something the computer spits out so it's way out in left field, you don't just blindly accept it and move on.

 

We never used any of the computer programs other than CAD. And that was straight 2D drawings. Hell, one of our tests on sea term was to draw one of the major systems on the ship by hand. They literally give you a blank sheet of paper and say pick a system.

 

Nope, she actually quit last week. Gave her 'four day notice' on Monday, and then showed up late and left early for the rest of the week. Like, by multiple hours. I don't think she even clocked 20 last week. And this week she's been calling constantly and asking for HR because she had already used more vacation days than she had accrued, so they took the difference out of her last paycheck and it pissed her off
