Without a doubt! But damn if your in trees all day, you start looking for the smallest lightest saw possible. Just saying!

its too bulky if you are packed for an adventure. The stihl one is a bit better, or the husky bag that is a similar shape.

blueridgeoverland makes a nice rack strap for the stihl hard case that looks pretty cool of you need it.

    A few.
This is the box I modified for my 270. All my gear fits, and it catches bar oil so you don't get it all over the other stuff in the back of your truck.

Most of the time I don't need a bigger saw on the trail in Colorado.

I thought we were talking about carrying a saw for bucking small trees on the trail. Not felling giant sequoias.

I carry a Stihl 029 Farm Boss with an 18 inch bar. I carry both a hardwood and a safety chain, though I almost never use the safety chain. Premix and bar oil in a two-chamber can. Tools, sharpener, spark plug. Hard hat with ear muffs and face screen, safety glasses and leather gloves. Wedges and a Bloodstopper trauma bandage.

    Oh, and chaps too. ;)

That being said, all the accessories are carried in a drawer under my sleeping platform. The can and saw are tied to deck/side of truckbed. I need to figure out a better way.

The fuel can usually is in a heavy plastic garbage bag, to contain any spills (which have not happened.) Just to be safe...

No - I will get one this weekend, as I try for a different setup.

Problem is, at the moment, my spare is in the back of the truck. Building a swing out for the bumper is on the list...

That would be convenient - instead of having to open the back (or side) to get the saw.

Hmmm.... Maybe build a scabbard mount into the fuel can carrier. Something to think about.

I guess you could recharge the dewalt packs with the outlet in the bed as you travel down the tread.
