must be nice to not be concerned with injury. I'm sitting right at 200, and always have to worry about my lower back when working out. Still trying to get my strength back to what it was pre-appendectomy and that's proving to be a bitch.

At the time my total was 1300lbs, 545 dead, 425 squat, and 330 bench. Just farting around in gym I could do 225 on bench 18 or 19 times I can't remember.

I'm stronger now if we go by bodyweight. I'm almost ready to pull 3x bw on dead

never had my dead there, but literally almost equal on squat and bench with you. 420 squat and 335 bench lol. never tried the 225 for amrap, but my short arms have always made benching pretty easy. deadlifts are my mortal enemy, they ruin my back. 405 is the best I've pulled and it nearly killed me

    Pull sumo eat butt, lol.

I have to pull conventional, idk if I need to research it more for sumo or what.

On Instagram squatuniversity is essential. Layne Norton's YouTube videos are great as well.

Good lifting belt and knee sleeves are nice ques for form.

Throw on the belt. Squat, Dead lift, repeat. win.

I was told in high school after i fractured my L4/L5 that i would never be able to lift heavy again. Proved them wrong.

Yep. I played center for Spain Park. Very big and talented boys on the other side of the ball. Just happened over time.

I use a belt on any weights over 225 (bench, dead, or squat) simply for prevention of hurting my back again. I hurt it once and now I know better. I should probably do them all more often, but it's cut season so we aren't focusing on lifting heavy.

I always Try to keep it heavy. Even when I'm "cutting" which I rarely go full cut just drop carbs to sub 100g. I try to keep my 4-6 rep weight up; squat at 405, dead at 455 and DB bench at 100s (chest has always been my weak point) when i drop carbs.

But I lost 220 lbs in college, from 350 to 120, and realized that skinny doesn't look good on me. #permabulk

I would do the same if I had a workout partner interested in that as well. The guy I currently work out with is only concerned with maintaining muscle and losing fat, no cares on strength. Don't have another fitness friend that is on a similar schedule with me.

I'm cutting and I dropped my reps for heavier weight, trying to keep the muscle use to heavy weight for when the reverse diet hits.

you're not wrong there lol. moving to Huntsville was one of the best decisions of my life, except when it comes to the gym. I had THE BEST workout partner back in Arab (paramedic firefighter who loved powerlifting). I don't have anybody here like that.

What was on the bar before cutting should stay on the bar during cutting with less reps. Best way to maintain.

I hear that. When I was living in Hoover i had a 2x Mr. Alabama and a 2x Mr. Arkansas with an IFBB pro card to push me through. In McCalla, I am the biggest person in the gym (which is pretty sad) and cant trust anybody but my wife to spot me. That being said, she can squat ~235 at 135 body weight.

partners really are everything to me. I love working out, but mentally I won't push myself without someone else helping.

Preach! Without partner I walk out of the gym. With partner I crawl out of the gym.

it's crazy how that works, too. because I can push and motivate somebody else, but I mentally doubt myself.

It's not doubt. Everyone needs a good yelling to really push through.

oh it's definitely self-doubt for me. even when it's weights I know I've done before I have thoughts that I can't do it the next time.
