Band new 80cf tank topped off with CO2/Argon mix was $195. To exchange for a new full tank will be $35

You don't need to haul that gas up right. That only applies to torch gas.

Just make sure you have the cap on when transporting. was in a hurry one time had the apprentice load up everything wile I finished testing the equipment. got in the truck drove down the highway went in to the weigh station. They where not impressed at all. They showed it in my fines it was about $400 to me and another $400 to the company. I do take full responsibility. I can laugh now.

You can haul torch gas flat actually if you turn it back upright and let it set before use :spy:

Not being smart here but are you having a problem seeing when your doing the same thing in SMAW

Dirty cover plates also make a big difference I changed my outer one every morning

Maybe Arc blow is causing your Arc to go where you don`t want.

After all these years the different processes seem so very similar

It comes down to being Comfortable and being able to see what your doing !!

I remember one class when the Auto Dark Hoods were still on the drawing board That a Shade 12 lens was mandated for Air Arcing For my Eyes that was so dark it was impossible to see what I was doing

I have used extra lighting aimed into the joint I was welding when needed .

If you can`t see what your doing your wasting your time.

When were young we never think How critical our eyes are to this trade.

I...never saw that similarity until now.

Now every time I put on my hood, I'm gonna be thinking about headlights.

Every women I know has a drawer full of Bras they never wear for one reason or another.

If not for the fact I gave away most all my Hoods that just got pushed aside in the search for the Perfect one I would have 20 or more hoods stacked all over the place

Alright TW peeps here's my deal. I'm 17 years old, very handy with a wrench, been working on cars and machines for as long as I can remember, and I've reached a point in my life where I need a welder. Due to me still being in high-school and a full time job not being an option, I see a welder as being a very cost effective investment.

I've always wanted to fabricate my own stuff but and it has not been realistic until now. So I know there are three types of welders etc. etc., but I don't know how any of them work, what the benefits are between MIG or TIG. you get the idea.

The type of stuff I want to do is be able to fabricate my own steel skid plates, build some bed bars, and just general things like exhaust welding. I'd prefer the cheapest welding system that will get the job done.

Thanks y'all, I'm looking forward to getting into fabing and possibly making some money on the side. :D

I'm going to push you towards MIG welding.

You questions has been asked many times in this thread. Would you take time to look up some of my previous post in this thread? I really don't want retype what I've already said several times.

Otherwise, glad you have the desire to weld and make money. I don't think anyone will argue, but MIG welding has the greatest potential for making side money.
