Just look at their shoes, you know they're not comfortable yet they buy them all the time.

I sold off my 2008 Tundra wit 5.7 V8 power and downsized to the 2017 TRD OR LB
Do miss the V8 power and overall comfort of the bigger Tundra
But only got like 345 miles on the Tacoma so I can't tell you shit about it
    Yet
And I do appreciate the better MPG tho!!
The lifted Tundra got 12/13 mpg all around

Oh, they discounted it to $31700 just for me, then offered 5k for the Mustang and 15k for the Tundra. I walked out and it looked like a group of vultures ready to attack. They keyed the door man to hold me up as they prepared a tag team. What could we do to earn your business? I thought ahead and drove the Civic so they didn't have an excuse to hold my keys hostage. They must have thought this was my first rodeo. It was the 6ft bed, chrome rear bumper, but nothing up front and no running boards. It had a velcro bed cover that would have to go. I set in all the seats and it seemed ok, but I couldn't ride in the back very far. I noticed the windows expanded the doors when the roll all the way to the top. The engine was quiet at 65, no vibrations, I did have some wind noise, smooth ride. The seat is high enough but reminds me of my Tundra, I don't ever seem to be able to get it just right. It felt long and narrow, and seemed to move to and fro, something I'm not used to from the rock solid Tundra stance. Much easier to maneuver and see out of as I hoped. It really was a nice looking blue truck and I think my wife would like the looks, the ride, and the drive. Most important, I made sure the passenger side sun shade had an illuminated mirror. I love all the cup holder locations, just like the Tundra. You'd appreciate this if you ever owned a Civic. The controls, seats, cab reminded me of a miniature Tundra. How many years back would I have to go to get a chrome front bumper?

You can do all sorts of aftermarket bumpers, front and rear. Brush guards, light bars, winches, etc. If you find a solid truck you like, you can certainly make it brush and rock worthy.

My in law is a master tech for Dodge and I'll summarize his thoughts. Great engine on every Ram truck... everything else is a cost cutting mess. He even traded in his 3500 Dually for a F350 Dually because of how many random issues he was having.

Something about most of their parts being made in Mexico made the Dodge mechanic jump ship. Now they pay for a parking spot at the lot next door so his massive F350 Dually isn't seen on the lot. Too funny.

I guess I'm lucky...I came from a 4 banger taco so this was a huge upgrade. But from a Tundra to a taco hmm I dunno...

Seems to be the new business model across corporate America from Tacoma's to Maytag dishwashers.

Update, I sold the Tundra. Advertised on CL Sunday and sold it on Tuesday. Still tossing around new Tacoma vs 2015, and now I'm looking at the Colorado. There's a voice in the back of my head saying tried and true 2015 vs two unknowns. Sounds like the Colorado is having as many issues as Tacoma. I have my doubt the Colorado will hold its resale like the 2015 Tacoma, especially if its a rattle box. I'd really like to by new for an extra $5K, but I seem to be out of options. I guess I could buy a beater and wait for the storm to clear. One dealer quoted $31K for 2015, short bed, 4x4, 14K miles, running boards, bed cover, alloy wheels and the same dealer quoted a new one for $33K and that includes 3 year loaner car and 2 year Toyota care.

What Jsinnard said DRIVE THEM ALL make sure you pick the one you like better. Don't buy it for "resale" value. If the Tacoma has better resale value, it will only make marginal difference down the road. If you trade a new Tacoma vs. a new Colorado in 3 years, you're going to be out a few grand anyway. Also remember you can usually beat up the Domestic Car Salesguy for better prices so they'll usually come down quite a bit more off MSRP than a Toyota dealer would.

I paid 28500 for my Tundra and sold it 7 years later for 22500 in 3 days. The equivalent Chevy at that time was 37K and private party on KBB is $19000. This is the scenario I worry about with the Colorado and maybe even the new Tacoma.

If you're considering a 2015 Tacoma at those prices take a look at a brand new Frontier Pro-4x. They have a ton of features you could never get in a 2nd gen Tacoma. Worth a look/test drive.

Make sure to test drive a Colorado or Canyon with the diesel option. They are kinda turds without tuning but still a great truck.

If you come through the portland/vancouver area you are welcome to check out mine.

I imagine if anything will have resale value, it would be the diesel. Did they do anything different to the diesel version? Sound deadening, tranny, rear end, suspension, etc? What mileage do you get?

I believe they are using the same trans and rear end. In 2017 the V6 got the 8speed transmission. Spring rates are slightly different and the diesel has a 7600 tow capacity. For sound the truck is very quiet and you cant even notice it when driving unless you are accelerating. I average 25mpg mixed driving with 33" tires and a level lift. My truck is tuned with emissions and it was a night and day difference (also have trans tuning). I have been waiting since Jan for the delete tunes for 2017.

So the main question you will ask yourself with the diesel option is to delete the emissions or not. The warranty will fix any emissions issue you will have down the road if you have any and which is likely the only problem you might encounter, Which is more likely if you do not drive it very far every day. This platform has been around since 2012 over seas but they had to adapt the emissions equipment to make the truck meet emissions here. There is much more information available then I can provide by using the google search.
I have been trouble free for 10k

In stock form the truck is kind of a turd and you will notice it compared to a V6 taco. But when its tuned its a whole different truck.

Do you mean turd by every day acceleration or towing? From a magazine review, it said the diesel did much better towing than the 3.6, and shifted less. I don't think I'll be towing much, but still curious.

I test drove the baby duramax in a Colorado and my experience was that it accelerated smoother than my 2016 V6 Tacoma, it shifted better, it had a lot more torque and it was noticeable. I liked the throttle response better as well. If you tuned it, it would only be even better.
