I'm trying. little bit at a time. in my daily driver, that I still am paying on, with TWO young girls in the backseat that don't want to get stuck. Add wife to that last part. Yesterday she told me 10 times about getting stuck in the woods in Montevallo and having to walk out. 10 times

Tell those women to have faith in your ability to not get stuck, or get a winch lol.

haha. I asked/told my wife what the next mod I needed. I said skids to which she strongly replied, no you need that bumper and a winch! after the new floors the insurance company is giving us - the deductible she said if she gets countertops and a backsplash I get the two goodies she mentioned. guess I wont be marking off sick from work anytime soon.

Are you getting a full bumper or one of those slimline ones basically just for a winch?

slimline. Just trying to keep weight down. I know, I can already here you complaining about me complaining about weight. I'm gonna try all I can if I hopefully get to go to moab in '19. for the most part for me though, I want to do less rock crawling/obstacles than just just taking my kids on an adventure. <- as often as I can afford to. Night before last me and the girls (minus their mother) were planning a trip to and watching videos on the florida keys. wife complains about me dreaming a little to much. might as well

I'd just get a mobtown front hitch before paying so much for a slimline.

I guess for all accounts it does provide some additional protection. I want the full one mostly for protection, partly for approach angle/fogs.

thanks I might look into that. I do like how some of the slimlines hide the winch. also the hoop on the fabfours? actually looks like it might afford some protection from the 1000 deer I see every other night on my drive home on 119.

I would still like more protection but I like how the slimlines blend in.

The great thing about a front hitch is you can move the winch on an adapter from the front to the back.

I've only done it once, but that's where I came out. Should be a pretty good trip with the elevated level of the river

If you want a real adventure, you can drop in the Cahaba at the 265 in Pelham and go to Cahaba River Drive in Brierfield. I've only done it once, but it was awesome! It's an all day thing, or it was for me and a buddy in a canoe.
