    I'd love to get a picture of how you are mounting your rotopax mounts on the RCI rack!

    Like, so many.
    So I was doing some work in West Africa and our interpreter worked out with a local chief for us to stay in his village that night. We were in a Hilux so we found an awesome spot right outside of the village under a grove of date trees and tied our hammocks off the truck. It was gorgeous.
    Then there was some commotion from the chief and our interpreter and this back and forth was a little heated and went on for a while. Eventually our interpreter, Dabo, said the chief wants us inside the village. He's adamant. Dabo is super frustrated. We all are actually. We just spent a while getting the site set up. And the chief is being cagey about why he wants us inside the village.
    We acquiesced because we were guest and we didn't want to cause problems for anyone who might come after us. So we pull out our sleeping bags and walk 10 feet back to the village.
    Some women roll out some big straw mats in the yard of the chief's compound. And we sleep right there on the ground. Fortunately we at least had ground pads, but it definitely wasn't as comfortable as a hammock. Honestly it was pretty miserable. And at some point there was a fight between a monkey and a donkey that last disconcertingly long. And of course the call to prayer at sunrise. That was a long night.
    The Hilux was a good truck though.
    This is where we ended up "sleeping."IMG_4709.jpgTurns out the chief was afraid a local demon named the Niki Noki was going to take us. Dabo, was like, "You have got to be kidding me."

    Dabo once had to dig up a termite mound to prove there wasn't a dragon living underneath poisoning the local well.
    But yeah, I've been there a few times and I'm going back later this year. I love it.

    Nice! Can you take a couple pictures of that thing? I am looking into doing something like that, myself.

    @TravoHTX You don't happen to fly fish do you?!? I got a float tube and a skiff with a longtail mud motor- we could get back there and slam fish on a place like that...

    Just curious- where in HTX are you located? I'm on the north side, just south of Tomball.

    @Ryan_3TacosIn Unfortunately not, although I'd love to learn one day haha. This pond isn't big at all so a boat with a motor wouldn't even be worth taking. I am going to take my kayak and rod next time and see what's in there. I'm on the Northwest side off of 290 and 43rd

    @TravoHTX

    Dude. I'm down. We can take the skiff... :goingcrazy:

    I have like 10 rods, literally... I've taught many strangers how to throw a fly and if you have any type of coordination whatsoever, you'll be good. We look like we're in similar age range (I'm 31). Perfect place to take a yak. I'm stuck with float tube (and the skiff... haha) as my wife said "no more toys" until we get her a new car... My dad said he was going to buy him and I kayaks so we'll see...

    :fingerscrossed:

    Haha right on. That spot is by reservation only and you have to go to the physical office and make it you can't call and then you get the code to gate to get in. My buddy, the dude in those pics, lives near there and always does it for us. I can let you know next time we're planning to go out there though

    Just have them bolted into the holes. Nothing to special. I did have to drill out one side where the gas can is, but that's easy.
