Basically what happened to me when I took it in a few weeks ago. Waiting to hear that the ordered gasket is in. Odd thing is, I checked the diff a few days ago (it was seeping before I took it in), and it's perfectly clean. I wonder if they cleaned it and re-torqued without telling me last time.

OK, so if they take back how many of us have mods? Will you have any chance of removing?

they might have ordered you the old design gasket and not the new one.
i just got off the phone with the service manager and he said the new gaskets
aren't available yet, it might be another 2 months before they get them in.

Ok questions, does someone know if I can demand from the dealer to return my truck until they have a scheduled date to attend to my truck's recall repair ? also, Do I have the right to keep the rental truck and leave my truck at home while awaiting for recall repair,,,, I just went to the dealer yesterday and saw my truck sitting out at the dealer's outdoor lot. The truck has been there for 37 days, please provide advise.....

its not a gasket issues... thats why they havent returned these trucks. its something else and its buying them time to fix that other thing and they are using this tiny leak as an excuse. granted there is a few leaks but not whats causing the rear end to explode

I totally agreed I think they are hiding something from us and that is precisely why I filed a claim with Consumer Affairs now I need an attorney to follow up

Yeah because that last $1.2billion fine wasn't quite enough for them and they want to give away more money for the same thing.

Should have done the proper R&D on these new trucks before releasing them...

Its messed up for those of us who have had major issues

I've had more than my share of issues. Coolant leak, DI seal failure resulting in a massive fuel leak, four or five trips for the transmission reflash, door seals replaced, interior trim installed improperly and wireless charger not functioning.

I still doubt Toyota is trying to hide anything when it comes to the rear end.

Maybe so, but I know this much, I did not buy a 40,000 Tacoma to have it sitting on a lot and worst of all not knowing when the truck will be repaired, in my eyes this is totally unacceptable regardless of who is to blame for this mess,,, I will start calling my truck "Tweety Bird" instead of the Beast , total disappointment !!! And then there is another recall effective June 1, to make things worst uffg

that ones worse... your truck can just die on the highway due to "CPS" failure.

I never took any photos but I had 5 or 6 spots where it was seeping. Mine did not qualify for the recall so they just fixed it under warranty. It took about a month for the dealer to get the parts. I kept the truck the whole time.

    What major issues?? Hiding what??
    What proper R&D??
The Truck’s basically a 2nd Gen with a new interior\exterior facelift, and a proven Lexus re-assigned drive train.

The fact that mine drives, handles and has thus far been issue free for 22k miles is proof.

The only issue was the rear diff fasteners were not properly torqued to specs. That is not a manufacturing\design issue, that’s an assembly line Oh-chit moment.
Took me a few minutes to fasten to proper torque, no problemo, no drama, no big deal, problem solved!
All we need is Toyota techs to step up to the plate, be the hero (yeah, that guy) and save the day.

On the other hand, oh $hit moment lives matter too. Just saying!
    Cheers!

This! Those of you that are letting the dealer keep your truck are LETTING the dealer keep your truck. It's your truck! They can't confiscate your property without your consent.
